I am afraid I have no sympathy for you what so ever,

You say they are transparent well I think not as I know a couple of people whom have been both duped and robbed blind by the likes of you guys and to be honest the whole company should be closed down with an imediate effect.

One case I know the agent didn make the actual monies paid by a friend to the company and a now Provident ( Thieves ) are attempting to take him to court for the amount owed.

In another case they stated a figure to pay and the actual debt lasted another 3 or 4 months longer than what they were told.

At least with the banks they in some case listen to a complaint Provident ( thieves ) do not and as for expensive credit cards well who owns Vanquis one of the UK's biggest apr on a credit card oh what a surprise its Provident Thieves ) again

Provident and other doorstep lenders target those with guaranteed incomes such as those on benefits and on quite a few times i refused to issue a loan to those concerned, I would often recommend loads of customers not renew peoples loans, but that was at shopacheck but also i think the managers there were a lot more conscious if the customers would pay. I resigned from being an agent because of the costs including petrol and such. I only ever picked up 7% commission and £10 for every customer i got to signed up. But at the end of the day i did think i was a legal form of loan shark.
  • I have worked for Provident for 28 years and this is the first time that I have considered leaving. The morale in our office is at an all time low and I have heard that 2 agents have already left due to the new payment structure. I am in the process of making several telephone calls to see if Provident can legally retain commission from us in this manner. We are already penalised by non/reduced payments by way of lost commission, so to penalise us again seems very unfair. I have been in touch with the FSA who have advised me to contact the Office of Fair Trading, ACAS and the Law Society to see what advice they can provide. I totally agree with comments made by other Agents and I think it is appalling that some Agents have had such large amounts deducted from their commission. The Agents hard work and commitment provide management with good bonuses, but it is the Agents who are continually penalised. Hopefully Provident will see sense before too many more Agents decide to leave.

its annoying me a bit that people say we shouldnt lend to people who cant afford it!!!! do you not think we have processes to go through to decide what we can lend?????
people circumstances change ie lose jobs, made redundant etc
i have been an agent for 8 years now and take my job very seriously i have lost £130 out of my wages this week and there is nothing i can do as far as i know?? its not actually our dm's fault so trying to lose them there bonuses makes us as bad
  • I have sort legal advice and the solicitor told me we need a copy of our contract to see if it states that the company can make deductions in this way.....well my contract states they can make deductions for things like fraudulant and dishonest actions, shortages due to errors, theft, accidental loss or negligence...... nothing about being deducted for non payment from customers All agents must send a letter of grievence to head office, from our branch we are getting all agents to sign a letter and posting them all at once so they wont keep getting them in dribs and drabs we also have a meeting planned for next week with our AM. This week ive been deducted £50 some agents even more!! The more people that make a noise the more they will have to listen :)

Yes, time to make ourselves heard properly i think. I have appointment with solicitor tomorrow and the letter is a good idea. We can all moan till we are blue in the face but they will not listen. someone has to make a stand. They think we will all forget about it and will lose momentum with this, but we musnt. Two agents i know of have lost in excess of £100 this week which is surely wrong.

ive been an agent for 8 years now, and this is the only time ive ever hated my job, but i hear what everyone is saying and totally agree with it 100%, but saying it is not doing it!, im very passionate about the things i do and the end of the day a job is a job, this is all i have! wot else is out there? so instead of cutting my nose off just to spite my face i cant walk away without a fight, so agents of provident get your bottoms into gear all get together and do something about it now, organize a meeting with every agent in your branch, ive already got the ball rolling at our branch, we need to do it now!, one person will not be listened to but 11,000 will!
  • TEAMSPIRIT when you go to the solicitors make sure you take a copy of your contract and if possible copy section 13 from the employment rights act 1996 (just google it) i have !!!! best of luck and keep us all posted on how you get on

I have to say i have been a n agent for 2 years and this week have given my notice and leave next month as im not gonna lose half my wages for something i have no control over , before i leave i will do my best to protest against this ridiculas pay structure , me and another agent have spoke today about having an agents meeting after been told by AM THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN ENOUGH COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT !! and you are so right all 11,000 agents have to stick together !

Good point , just had a look, it looks like it just applies to employees . As we are classed as "self-employed " I don't think these laws will apply to us !! :(
