Just out of interest - my husband took his paperwork back in today after quitting last week and was greeted with utter disdain, probably because he's mucked up his manager's bonus - but as yet he hasn't even been given the paltry £17 that he was left with after the deductions were made last week so is that not a genuine case of witholding his wages?????
we have e mailed Watchdog and also the 'contact us' section on the pfg website. I myself have a loan with them, and because they haven't sent an agent out to cover what was his round they have pushed me into my first week of arrears. ALL of his customers have been calling him over the weekend to say that no one has collected from them..... his manager said this morning that the agent that she gave his clip to brought in £1800 - we know that that would be from one settlement and top up loan - she didn't want to know that 3 more customers wanted new loans so she's lost out there. And I know that £17 isn't a lot of money but with a 3 year old in our house and now no income coming in until next wednesday from me, it would have gone quite a long way. I'm resisting the urge to phone the office and ask Judith to send his wages out by first class post before I turn up there myself and demand repayment of hs deductions under the Employment Act 1972.

If agents want to get what should be there's on a equal playing field I suggest a call to the inland revenue. I'm sure if enough of us make them aware of the control they have over us, makin us attend meetings, only coming in certain days and times etc they would have enough reason to question the SELF EMPLOYED status ??0

Hi have been a agent for 29 years of Greenwoods a sister company to Provident, greenwood agents are appalled to what the company is doing to us, would the people who came up with this idea like us to say give us your wages. Most of the agents that work for Provident and greenwoods do this for a little extra money in their pockets, and we are losing out as we have to pay out petrol parking and now for customers that will not pay us at all.All we get from management is get new customers, how do we no down the line they just stop paying so we land up out of pocket having money stopped in our wages.0

I will be doing this and urge you all to do so..... but also bare in mind the following:
1. Where exactly are your reductions going?..... they are not paying off debts...... interest is added at the start of loan issues to cover this.
2. Contract.... Mine although only a print out (not formally issued) does not allow for these reductions.
3. Other Managers on my Agency rang my customers offering them loans earlier this year...... for which i am now paying charges... anyone else had this?
4. If (as previous coments) your Manager done their job.... this situation would not be so bad.
5. As an Agent I am not paid to be a Balliff.....if thats what they want.... employ me as such..... not what I signed up for!
I would like to start an Action group about this and will be doing so in my area. Agents need to stick together on this so contact me if you would like my support.
Yes i would like some support please, what do u think would happen with we just took back the money they stole from us,0 -
please get this straight they are not Fines they are commision adjustments.
just as your commision is adjusted in a positive way when you all stop whingeing and do the job you are supposed to do.
no more posts from me for two weeks off to my second home in devon.
bye bye
These ARE fines as the amounts are deducted after any relevent commission adjustments have been made. As you are off to your second home for 2 weeks, I presume you are not an Agent. Perhaps you can confirm where all the money deducted from the Agents is going. I personally have not lost out at the moment but I think it is absolutely deplorable what is happening. With the amount of Agents leaving Provident, the DM's will not be able to collect all the Books. Think about all the reduced collections on these books, as I know when the regular Agent is on holiday a Deputy Agent rarely collects as much. I have read with interest that some Agents have reported this to Watch Dog and I sincerely hope that this will be included in a program in the near future, to show the General Public how the hard working Agents are being ripped off. I also hope that someone will be able to find out if what is being done is legal and if it is not then the Agents concerned can hopefully be reimbursed with the amounts they have lost.0 -
I cant see watchdog taking up the cause of the agents as they did a story a few years back slamming provident and their agents for dubious means of issuing a loan.0
