age to dye hair?

I dyed my hair at 13 as it was such a boring non-descript colour however when my daughter who is 14 asked if she could dye her hair i said no. My reason for this is that she has gorgeous hair. It's a really rich conker brown and she doesn't need to dye it to have a nice colour unlike i did. She was ok with that.
I don't think 14 is too young if it gives them confidence and a sense of identity.0 -

The only restriction I've put on my 14 year old's appearance is the words on the t-shirts they wear. He is not allowed swear words, no matter what he says about 'everyone else's mum' allowing it. He doesn't use the 'f' word in real life (in my hearing) and he will NOT wear it on the back of an avenged sevenfold t-shirt.
Bless him, he thinks he's all unique and rebellious but he looks exactly like my brothers did when they were his age, he even wears the same t-shirts52% tight0 -

I was allowed to dye my hair when I was 14.
I was a dark brown and I wanted light brown. No light browns ever worked so I decided that I would use blonde and stop it earlier so I would get light brown. That was a very bad idea.:rotfl:
My hair started going lighter so I washed it out and it came out bright ginger.. Normal ginger is fine, this was bright orangey ginger. Someone told me that I had to wait a few weeks until I could dye again (this is wrong, I recently wanted to go red so I went blonde and then red and this was fine). So I used henna which didn't work. After a few weeks, I asked my mum to buy me a dark brown so I could go back to how I was. She came home with black so I had black hair until it grew out
I liked it

DS dyed his hair black when he was around 13, though he was quite dark to start with.
DD (13) on the otherhand had my dying her beautiful mousy blonde hair red on Tuesday. I insisted on a semi permanent dye and did it with some trepidation but have to say it looks lovely and really suits her.
I think freedom to express yourself at that age is incredibly important, as long as it's not drastic enough for them to be in trouble at school I'd say why not.0 -
I started dying mine at about 13/14 - always a bright cherry red at first
It's been every colour of the sun since but my mantra is 'it's just hair - I can cut it all off and it will grow again'
...... and am now wondering if nearly 40 is too old to go back to pillar box red and get a tattoo!!
I went bleached blonde - then shocking pink and then pillarbox red in a flurry of hair boredom last year at 34/35Too scaredy-cat to get a tattoo tho' :rotfl:

I don't think 14 is too young. I started dying mine at about 13 and my SIL started doing hers when she was about 12ish I think.2019 Wins

I started dyeing my hair blue/pink/purple/red when I was about 14/15. My parents biggest concern was that I didn't stain the bath and cleaned up after myself. I don't think 14 is too young, dyes fade or hair grows and can be cut if it ends up not as great as imagined.Debt: Started at £4780, now at £4190
Comp Wins 2014: None yet0
