    I was 24 & hubby 27 purchased a 2 bed home in 1985 for £15,532, sold for £45,000 in 1991.

Purchased our second home a 4 bed town house for £59,950 in 1991 & sold at a loss in 1996 for £51,500 (neighbours from hell).

Final home was a 3 bed semi a total wreck which took nearly 3 years to renovate for £33,500 in 1997, mortgage free from 2009.

I was 31, DH was 36 in 2000 we felt really old but DH had gone to University at 28 in 1993 and when he started working in 1996 we moved to SE and had babies so I gave up work altogether as no help with childcare. We rented a lovely cottage in the country so were happy but finally managed to buy on his wage only in 2000.

I was 24, bought a 2 bed terraced house for £36k (now worth aprox £120k) mortgage was an Abbey endowment fixed for 3 years at 7.5% and the payments were £175 pm. I LOVED that house. My ex-husband was awarded it in the divorce settlement and rents it out to druggies who have trashed it - breaks my heart :(
  • First house bought I was 27, but first house owned I was 18 as it was inherited.
