    Hi

Good luck! Its great to see someone with such desire to get out of debt :T good for you! :T

we have to get out of this before it gets worse, we are making the monthly payments but its a struggle and just cant go on like this anymore.

I am going shopping later and i have set my budget for £20 for the week but i am hoping that i will spend less, going to go through the cupboards and freezer to find out what i actually need and not buy for the sake of it.
  • i dont know I only started on the 27th, I think you cancel your DD from the day you agree to go with them after recieving the paperwork. They say cancel all your DD and pay us 1 monthsly amount and they list what that will be split into.

Just remember to list EVERY debt, old and new, ones you might be frightened to face up to, do them all otherwise you will have to start over again in a few years!

uh... not sure exactly. I presume they do it jointly but for them to deal with you it'd need to be in your name. You hubby would have to agree to it though..
sorry not much help as I haven't had any dealings with Payplan but there are lots of people on here who have so it might be worth posting asking that as a seperate post with payplan in the subject line..

Hi ya just to quickly say that my hubby is Army and in Afghan for 6 months He is with payplan and they are very happy to deal with me whilst he is away - your hubby just needs to make sure that your name is recorded as the contact - I've even been writing letters to hubbys creditors etc to explain that he is away and that he can not be contacted and that should they need anything then they have to speek to me. They have all been great. Can highly recommend payplan though - and with you hubby being in the forces a DMP shouldn't have any effect on his job?

Hi ya, he's only been gone 2 months!!! Still got 5 to go as they've just extended it to a 7 month tour!! aaargh.... he should be home on R&R in Feb though and I can't wait....

Its a very stressful time as I'm sure you're aware of...... I only found out about his debts a little while ago (we've been married for two years!!) but things are gradually getting back on track and we're building up the trust again! We started talking with Payplan in August when things got very tough - obviously I was oblivious to the debt so wasn't really money saving etc but now I'm on top of things hopefully we will see an end to it!! The plan is solely in his name though but they are great at communicating with me etc as they are aware he is away.

The DMP is now starting to have an effect but it has taken nearly 4 months! Its nice seeing bank statements come through with 0% interest and no charges. His Debt free date is 2014 but at least we can see an end to it!!

Good luck with you plan. Is the debt in your name or hubbys?

    Great plan!

I also recommend going thorugh your dressing table, bathroom cabinets etc to see how long you can get away without buying shampoo shower gell etc. You can use bubble bath as shower gel or handwash for example :)

Also if youve got a copper jar- count it up and get it onto debt repayment- even if its a only a quid, it will save you some interest over the longer term!

If you havnet already look at the great ways to cut back hunt at the top of the page :)
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I have no choice, we just cant get further and further into debt, something has to be done now, and i am sick and tired of struggling every month and worrying all the time.

its sure been a relief with the boards and talking to people about it, now i have done something about it, just waiting for them forms and we can get the ball rolling

    thanks for your reply
