immoral_angeluk wrote:Glad to help. We were in pretty much the same boat middle of october. Since then we've reduced out monthly outgoings by nearly £300, paid off 4 debts as well as getting everything sorted for our new baby AND christmas without getting into more debt or spending more than we could afford. This site is great especially if your hubby is away with the forces because I know you can fele really lonely sometimes so it's great to have sympathetic ears to talk to who can give decent advice.
did you go through a company for dmp or are you doing it yourself?

We've done everything ourselves. We've been quite lucky in the respect that we saw things were going downhill before they gathered speed and took steps to sort it out. We don't have much debt compared to most (About £11k inc car loan but no mortgage) but we're on a low income and found it tough with so much going out each month. We just took a step back, shook ourselves off and went in head first. It's been hard being so strict with money but we're seeing the money ease up already and we've only been at it a month and a half.
There IS a light at the end of the tunnel, it's just a case of finding the quickest way out.
My debt diary is floating around the board somewhere and you can see what we've done to sort ourselves out. We've still got a long way to go but we're getting there slowly. It's just about making positive steps to move forward.

Hi,
We are in the same position as you.
Regarding calling LTSB,I would call and s/w collections...they can freeze interest and reduce monthly pymts for you....when i was on mat leave they reduced to £50 on a £8200 balance and they are still at that 1yr later and all crgs/int frozen. Collections is in India though but most of the time they are good!
Also make sure you are not paying PPC on the card as that will be costing loads and is a waste of money!
Good luck0 -

Hi
Youve had some brilliant advice on cost cutting, the ther thing to bear in mind is money-making
As your at home, get some stuff up on ebay/loot/ amazon etc even if its only a few quid, its better than nothing
Also re: job hunting - have you signed up to any agencies? or tried the job centre? Maybe you will be entitled to job seekers allowance. Its not a lot, but you might be entitled to it? Find out
Good luck! Its great to see someone with such desire to get out of debt :T good for you! :T:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

I applied to 30 jobs last week, have 2 interveiws, one was yesterday which i should find out if i have the job next week and have a interview tomorrow. i can only work school hours well up to 5pm daughter can go in a holiday club after school but then again paying money out for that. I dont drive so agency would be a problem for me unless they can get me a job thats local, but believe me i have thought about it, even applied for cleaning jobs to help out.
I am not entitled to anything because my hubby earns a high wage. I check the job centre every day.0 -
