These "managed" accounts should only be used as a LAST resort...they're not as simple as a flat monthly fee they've all sorts of various hidden charges

They cropped up on a thread recently and are BR friendly. Although I don't see the need to pay a fee when Barclays and Co-op provide free BR friendly banking.

you are correct only for those who seem unable to get an account and as Phill says only as a last resort.

That is what I mean, her comments about able to do this or that is pretty irrelevant if you are or have been br

No I'm not br but have previously been in an IVA. My comments are in relation to the functionality of the reserve account, which is the same for everyone who holds one whether they are br or not.

BIG difference between IVA & bankruptcy...you'd be able to look at a few different accounts rather than bankruptcy we're stuck with two

Well my paperwork came through yesterday and booklets that came with it. I have read through it and i think they will do a credit check as they do mention it a few times. The ID is a little confusing and they are asking for things i dont have IE a current passport but i will take them what i have and see what happens as they say its quicker to take the peperwork into a branch. I will let you know how i get on later today.

Well i went in and took my paperwork to the cashier who duly took the copies that they wanted in terms of ID. I will be honest and say i did not have all the ID they asked for on the sheet they sent in the post but dont be put off as they were more than happy with my driving licence and council tax bill. The guy then said that if i had 10 mins one of the account opening team would see me now and have it opened within 10 mins. I went it and the account opener basically asked me everything i had already down online and she said i would be credit checked at which point i told her my finacial situation to which she seems really unfazed which i thought ok is that a good or bad sign.

Well computer said yes and i now have there savings account to add to my savings portfolio. :T

That is good news for you, well done.

I would just say they usually only want 2 forms of ID anyway, one with your address on and nowadays probably one with a photo if possible, but mostly just a signature. Hence accepting the two you provided, they just have to provide a list as not everyone has every form of ID.

Has anyone with this account had success using the debit card
    for UK online gambling sites?
(as long as you have funds in your NatWest account of course).

Or are those sort of transactions not allowed with this account?

Are you BR? If so, why would you want to risk gambling? You have no credit and so risk not being able to pay your bills or buy food, so running up debts again.
