I am a DB and have one of these accounts, I got it about a year after discharge with no problems. It comes with a debit card and has online banking (I applied for it online). You can't set up DD or SO, but has been very handy to have. Havent applied for a step account yet as have a co-op basic account, but may try for it.

We should both hear at the same time :D

I have just checked my report and one of my records has gone? not sure why that has happened, but there is no recorded inquiry as yet from Natwest
