Is it a proper visa debit card?

All cards with Natwest are either Visa Debits (for all current accounts) or ATM-only cards (for savings accounts).

So ya, it is a proper visa debit card :)
Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion :p

Ive had a first reserve account for 4 years. It is a savings account, and therefore you will NOT be credit checked. They do only ID/fraud checks for this account. You cannot have a salary paid into it, nor can you have any dd's, so's out of the account. You also cannot make payments out of the account (by FP or BACS), although you can transfer to another Natwest account. The only other ways to get money out is with the card (ATM or debit card purchase), or by going into a branch. The card is a full authorisation visa debit card, the same as the card that comes with the Step account. Hope this answers some of your questions :)

Since the card changeover, the new ATM cards have chips on them, so you can use them for Faster Payments in branches providing you have a PIN number aswell. Same goes for online me thinks.

Savings account cards are not full Visa debit cards - they can only be used at ATMs or in branches to make withdrawals.

You can't do faster payments online even with the card, I've tried, unless there's something I'm not doing right, and I didn't say the card was a full visa debit, I said it was full authorisation, which it is.
It's a blue visa debit card, exactly the same as the card that comes with the step account. I also have the purple offline card with my current account

    Thanks for clarifying.

It won't be - how is full authorisation different to a full Visa debit card?

You said in your post earlier:

Do that and hope you have some form of back up :p

Hmmm You're contradicting yourself.....The card is not a full visa Debit, but it's a blue Visa Debit card??

There is no possible way that you can get a Visa Debit/POS card/Full authorisation card/whatever - on a savings account - not possible at all! They can only be used in ATMs/branches.

For someone who works for Natwest, you don't seem to know a lot about their products! Let me repeat myself again, the card that comes with the first reserve account, is a BLUE FULL AUTHORISATION VISA DEBIT CARD. I've had the account for 4 years, it used to be a solo card which was also a debit card, but last year they sent me a blue visa debit card to replace it. I can withdraw from atms, use it in shops, get cashback at the supermarket with it, shop online, things you can do with most visa debit cards. My husband also has 2 of these accounts, and so has 2 debit cards!

    natwest.com/personal/savings/g1/instant-access/first-reserve.ashx

See at the bottom where it says cash withdrawals, with an optional DEBIT card.

thank you, I telephoned the Natwest and was told that you can pay for stuff in a shop using the card and when I filled in the application online I was asked for account details of where the payments would be made. from a natwest account or from another bank so i presume you can pay money in electronically
If you woke up this morning congratulations, you have another chance :j

Yep it's a full debit card, but you cannot have a salary paid into it.

    It's T&C's are very clear.
