Incapacity Benefit migration to ESA

Many thanks Nasa-i do think though they could actually send some confirming info out to put people minds at ease! i was listening to some of the tortured minds talking about this on a mh forum and i really felt for them.-where did you find this out from?

That just doesn't add up though! If people with a mental illness are being targetted and the not knowing is making their illness worse, then when they do go for the assessment they will be so ill they will pass the assessment.

I passed the assessment for anxiety and depression so the idea they are targetting these people just doesn't add up.

I am sorry if you think I am telling lies - I would assure you I am NOT!!
I have a letter from the DWP dated 29th January 2011 stating that my claim for IB would continue and would be
‘due to come up for normal review on 31st January 2014. We may contact you again after that date and you may be asked to fill in another questionnaire or be called for a medical examination’

I have now received a letter dated 7th April 2011 stating that my benefit is changing and
"we need to reassess you for Employment and Support Allowance"

This contradicts their earlier letter and their own guidance dated March 2011 that:
“The date of a customer’s re-assessment will be based on the review date of their Personal Capability Assessment. Customers exempt from undertaking a PCA review will have a review date set”.

Please NASA, if you have any 'inside knowledge' of how the DWP is handling this process, do share it.
But please do not accuse anyone of lying! Why would we???

Well i read something on my charity dealing with m y illness that Incapacity Benefit was first to be reviewed and then other benefits such as non taxble Income Surpport and Severe Disablement Allowance were to be next as appprently they were more complicated....However osmeone posted a report last week which said that all of that was thrown out of the window...:rotfl:

So i think as someone else said on here when your numbers up....

I was in a similar situation OP in that i was reassessed and then 2 motnhs later i had to start the form filling again and then 3 months later i had a medical so I know how it feels to be told one thing and then have to go through it all again so soon....

The ministers touted at the beginning of this crusade that work was beneficial in many circumstances involving mental health-i have heard it several times since that it is no longer a valid reason just to have a 'major mental health disorder'- most of these condition are stress reactive and i fail to see how work can be otherwise!! -most consultant psychiatrists block peoples return to work because they know it will lead to breakdown--i not only see the ranks of the unemployed swelling but the queue at the mh hospital--most people will be put on the 'short list for suitable for work and then 12 months later ejected into the pressure of jsa and being forced to take work!

İ am guessing that because pinkllady you were in atos's control you have to endure there testing but the migrants after 31st march will be done in order due to the 1 or so million--or am i wrong??

As far as I am aware, I might be wrong, Atos have been doing the medicals for DWP for IB, DLA etc since September 2005.

I've said elsewhere the odd person will be called out of order but almost all will be called in order.

In general, you will begin the conversion process on the scheduled review date for your personal capability assessment. This means that most claimants will already know the date they should be converted to ESA. However the new regulations give the DWP the right to call anyone for transfer at anytime, so there will be no legal grounds for challenging a decision to convert you earlier. The DWP states that some adjustments to conversion dates may need to be made in order to ensure a steady supply of claimants to conversion.
