I know that sometimes the payments in the private sector CAN BE very low, but they can also be very high. By the same token, you don't know what my salary was, just like I don't know how much yours was?

Nothing to do with salary - that was the minimum the government forced employers to pay when they got rid of people. I would suggest that for most workers in the private sector being made redundant they will get the minimum, whereas public sector workers will get a little bit more ....

I was just pointing out to you that £16k for 10 years work is actually quite a lot - I suspect that most private sector workers would have been quite happy with that.

  • Thats nonsense, the redundancy I was offered was based on my salary and of course length of service. I know this as I was given the calculation.

I am just pointing out to you that private sector redundancies CAN ALSO be pretty high.

As a pregnant employee I could not afford to take that amount of money, as I would only have been given SMP for maternity pay, which amounts to be very little. I would have had great difficulty in securing alternative employment as I was several weeks pregnant.

It becomes a criminal matter the second you make a conscious decision to keep money that you know you are not entitled to. Of course they will pursue it. The second you refuse to pay it back they will be able to take further action.

RTM'd your #31 post OP. If this thread isn't designed to flame then it is clear that you have a poor attitude. Either way it should be closed imo.
  • I think it's called 'theft by credit' or 'theft by finding'. Will be one or the other, and is CERTAINLY NOT JUST A CIVIL MATTER like this daft op seems to think!

If this is real and not a troll, I think it reflects very badly on other public sector workers like myself, who would not dream of keeping the money. 22k is hardly a life changing sum for goodness sake, and not worth the hassle!!

Best just to leave the OP to it.
  • I have messaged the mods about the dubious nature of this query but they have not acted.

its the idea that they could potentially go to the police first and ask questions later that worries me.
