Tonight I got a bit of a grilling the usual stuff numbers dont match, but tonight it was a bit different they wanted to see my club card which I did not have on me, my receipt I presented with the voucher I did use my club card on and it had my clubcard numbers on it, anyway talking to the supervisor it turns out they got a memo about matching clubcard numbers on the receipt to actual clubcards (so she said), anyway all turned out well in the end after phoning customer services,

But I thought I would share a point of law (I could be wrong on this but I think I am right?)
If you use a womble and it has someone else's clubcard numbers and you make a claim on it by presenting it as your own you run the risk of a criminal offence by obtain goods by deception as its very easy for them to trace the owner of the receipt

My advice is if you womble make sure its a "clean one" its not worth risking getting nicked for.
Hope this advice is of some use and in the words of Phil Esterhaus from Hill Street Blues "And let's be careful out there"

Mr T are still getting used to THE spreadsheet - I think ASDA are more advanced ;)

That made me laugh. It really did sound like the early days on OUR spreadsheet. But we all mucked in together. Great team and a great thread - we all sussed it in the end. :T

  • It depends upon the scale of it whether it is a civil or criminal matter. If someone is making a couple of hundred extra a month then T wouldn't be bothered. If someone is using a new email address every day to do 5 shops then potentially they could be making £3000/month. That is fraud.

If the fraud squad come calling at MSE/ISP, do you really think they would withhold the headers from the TCP/IP logs when asked for them in relation to a fraud investigation?

This is all very hypothetical and in reality would probably never happen. I was making the point that people should be careful what they write, that's all, just in case.

Even more twaddle!!! You should open up a spade shop cos you sure as hell like digging holes!!

Fraud is fraud no matter how much you make from it! The sums are irrelevant.

The police can ask for the info, Tesco cannot.

You are right, it is hypothetical and you are right it won't happen....only correct things you've said all night!!

    G'night everyone. ;)

Where is it you get all this info from? If you take £1 or £1 million pound, by deception, it is Fraud. There is nothing in Statute that says that you can 'rob' a bit.

Most on this thread are playing a game with Tesco, and they are playing a game with the consumer. I'm certainly not defrauding anybody, whether it is a £1 or a £1 million.

I still think I'm the only one in my store - massive Extra, too. Always loads of stock and cashiers have never seen the vouchers before (except when I go to ones I've previously visited...).

If you'd have asked me before I read the article, I'd have thought just the same as you. :)
