Tesco/Asda Pricechecker Thread - part 4

Hubby was told that Tescos would call the police if he went in again to use a DTD voucher to buy anything. The manager/supervisor told him not to go in any,or to use a DTD and to tell his "friends"" , not that we even know who hes refering to.. And it was only Hubbys 2nd time in this store..
He said he was basically "stealing" things from Tesco and that the police would be called in the future.
Do u think a complaint to HO is needed or should we just leave this??CouponWoman wrote: »I would make a complaint to head office, disgraceful treatment of a customer.
I agree, that is disgraceful and I would raise it as a formal complaint, writing to the Chief Exec. On what basis were they proposing to call the police? What law has he allegedly broken? I can record memos on my phone and if anyone accused me of anything like that I would whip out my phone and ask them to repeat.
To add to the 'is it worth it' conversation - so far I have a year's worth of coffee, dishwasher tablets and soap powder (liquid). 9 months fabric conditioner and 6 months toothpaste. I am presently on over a 40% ROI (based on Asda prices) and it is increasing with every recycling of a voucher, and that is with a number of mistakes, e.g. spent £26 and 'only' got £15 DTD back. I have made 2 special trips to Tescos, the rest of the shops have been made when I have been passing anyway. I generally do at least 2 shops while I am there so use 2 vouchers each time. Use a DTD voucher from dishwasher tablets to buy coffee and vice versa. With a few email addresses and a bit of organisation it is really quite simple and long may it continue.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Well, there is no way that they can change the promotion too much now in the long term. I will be happy if we can at least stick to the £100 a month for the forseeable future.weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0

Sorry to jump in here but it's very easy to spend a £20 voucher to generate another £20 voucher. I do it every day....
I think that the point is that every time you get a DTD voucher from Tesco, half of it is reimbursing you for the difference in prices between Tesco and Asda, and half of it is profit - it is double the difference after all. And because Tesco have capped the value of any DTD voucher at £20, the logical thing to do is construct a shop where the price difference is as close to £10 as you can get it. So what you are doing is 'investing' £10 i.e. buying some stuff from Tesco that would have cost you £10 less in ASDA, in order to receive a voucher for £20. It doesn't matter whether you've spend £20 to get £10's worth of stuff, or £50 to get £40's worth of stuff, the principle is the same. Your initial investment is limited to £10, and you get a 100% return on that investment the minute you spend that first voucher. (And ad infinitum if you recycle it.)
Or to put it another way, I agree with you, except that it doesn't really matter whether the stuff you're getting from Tesco is free or merely cheap, half of the value of every DTD voucher you receive is always profit.0 -

The battle comes against a background of research which shows cash-strapped families and others are actually putting less food in their trolleys than a year ago.
Oops :rotfl:. Surely they should go on to say ", especially in Tescos. However the evidence also shows a marked shift in a move from value branded products to quality brands such as Finish dishwasher tablets and Gold Blend coffee, indicating shoppers are valuing quality over price"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0
