I've been doing this for approx 1 wk.I now use one of 5 tescos in my local area (all within 5 miles of my house - not tried the metros around here as well!) and although I haven't been looking all the time, I haven't noticed any other DTD'ers. Usually, there's a stock of most things as well - lamb, cornettos, pancake powder etc.
Also, some staff round here just scan the vouchers without flinching and others read them first and then scan them, suggesting they haven't seen them before. In one hand and out of the Other!0 -
Wen into my local Tesco after the kids went to bed, to stock up on baked beans, jam, Betty Crocker things, cereal, you knoe - the usual every day stuff. Shopping done I headed to the self serve till (only ones on at this time of night) and had to ask someone to input the voucher. After 30mins and a visit to her manager, the lovely SA offered to suspend my shopping so that I could come back tomorrow. Oh no, I thought...will have another DTD voucher to use by then!
Eventually, after much embarrassment on her behalf she called for the night manager who admitted he had absolutely no idea how this works as he hasn't been trained on it (being night staff he said he didn't need to know...ha!). In the end, my voucher was put thru, I paid the difference and came home. The SA coouldn't have been nicer. Makes a change to some of the stories we've heard on here lately.0 -

it says shampoo and shower gel sachets? does that mean you're not allowed to send big bottles? or do they just suggest that so your not going over the weight so easily or something?Bottles of shampoo and shower gel are ok but the soap may make things taste of funny. Also i wouldn't put tins in as they weigh a lot and remember they aren't cooked, The mug shots and biscuits would be good things to add
If you see someone without a smile give them one of yours,
It wont cost you anything!

It is a shame though that so many people are missing out. On the upside though, more stuff for us! :TNow debt free and working towards saving my 1st £1000!0 -
Out of interest. Is it true what I have been told, that all meat etc is just binned, when returned, as you have no idea how it has been kept?

Seems a cruel and unusual punishment to send fray bentos pies to anyone... they have gotta have better food over there... or maybe they could use them as weapons to throw at the enemy.:T0 -
have had the same problem in my local shop in shoreham by sea. I have gone strait to sir terry ( now replaced) and the next time they apologised but follow me around the store almost everytime I am there. I play a game with them where I go one way see them follow me and go back on myself and start asking them questions. It really shocks them and they don't like it. I also sometimes ask them if they like to do my shopping instead so that I can get a coffee next door. Every time I get followed I report it too terry and to be fair it hasn't happened now for a while. Ones I had 8 staff following me around the store as I was buying lots of toys when they had the buy 3 get cheapest free deal just before Xmas. Had my trolly full of them so they thought I was doing a DTD shop. They run around like headless chickens when I get to the checkout just to see what I have in the trolly and they run around the shop to see if the SEL are correct before I pay. They are waisting there time on me as I just get a third party do the DTD in that shop now a days. .
Just report them and let them watch you if they want. We are not doing anything wrong. To Whom I can complain:?
My experience today at other shop:
I had enormously unpleasant experience I had today at the customer service desk in Tesco ......... Extra, around 19:30 after I made my shopping and was overcharged for the 4 bottles of ARIEL EXCEL GEL WITH FEBREZE 18 WASH/667ML. I paid £4.50 for each of them at the counter however the shelf price was £3. For this reason I went to CS desk and told about the overcharge.
The CS assistant sent a colleague to get the price tag from the shelf and when she was back she gave me £3. I pointed out that I had bought 4 bottles of them not one, and she had my receipt in front of her. Then she said she has to call a duty manager because I was often seen here with overcharged items.
And then she asked me why I had bought 4 bottles? Why so many at once?
Because I do a lot of washing!?!
Let me ask you: is there a limit of items you can buy these days? It was a good price I thought therefore I bought more at once for the future. I didn’t have much money with me then, but if I had I could have bought a full trolley if I wanted. Do I have to ask Tesco permission to buy more then one?!
I was gutted at this point how she dared to tell me that I was coming here a lot with overcharged queries. It is Tesco who is misleading customers with the wrong prices. How many people were buying this item without even realising they’d been overcharged? Why should I be mistreated and interrogated by Tesco staff if I noticed Tesco’s mistake when I paid for my shopping?
So in other words what the assistant meant was that Tesco can trick you and steal your money as many times as it likes but you can come and query this once, not too often, otherwise there is a problem.
Eventually the duty manager came and asked me the same question: why did I buy 4 bottles exactly? I had to repeat all over again. I also added that I didn’t know that Tesco has a limited number of items that you are allowed to buy; apologised for coming over to CS desk so often to enquiry about the items that Tesco overcharged me again.
In these days we all try to save some money and I do check my receipt after I’ve done my shopping. And I do this thoroughly only because I and friends of mine have been overcharged a number of times.
After all this hassle and abusive behaviour from both CS assistant and the duty manager I finally got my money back but I was told that I would be watched. Is it me who did something wrong? How dare they say that to me in front of other people who stood in the queue behind me? What kind of customer service is that? I had been overcharged by Tesco, then accused of buying too much stuff as well as coming to the CS desk too often for the same reason.
I am very disappointed and upset with the way I was treated today. Therefore I will request a full apology from the CS assistant and the duty manager, because they had no right to abuse me like this and treat me like I was the villain here. Actually they should have thanked me that I came across with this issue so that they corrected the pricing and improved their reputation on labelling.0 -
Very interesting story. The way I see it is that the chances are 'many' people picked up the washing powder before you, unaware that Tesco had been so 'slap dash' to leave the incorrect price up. They have gained from those people - wrongly in my view.
So what is the difference in you benefiting from the situation? I would say you were quite within your rights to do what you did. My past time used to be exactly the same. BUT you must remember. It is their store. It isn't unheard of for them to ban customers. Might be a good idea to let it rest and try a few other Tesco's - if that's possible!!;)
I bought this tonight and it was £4.50 on the shelf i wonder if it is changing tomorrow and your store was too ealrly with changing SEL.0
