Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday, 11th April 2011. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning again everyone - thanks SM for starting the thread too.
Yesterday was practically perfect. We didn't go to Whitby but, for family reasons, headed east instead. The payoff for me was a trip to Windermere and Lakeland :j where we had a lovely lunch before buying a couple of needed items. :rotfl: Then we had a long hairy drive across to the other side, tried to go over Hardknott but there was a cycle time trial on (really really really scary at times) and then there must have been a major accident/incident and we got diverted off the other way round, luckily just at the point where a diversion was available. How the big hug fire engine that went through got round I will never know - some driving! but, for family reasons, headed east instead. All in all a very lovely day indeed. Today it's dull, as befits a work day, and I have to slave over a hot laptop. Breakfast will be eggs and bacon, lunch is planned to be carrot soup with ham hock and then evening meal will be decided later on today.
Need to organise my suitcase for an early start tomorrow. Loaded the kindle with three new books so almost sorted.
 Happy Monday folks!0

Morning Silver and Gers and all who follow, lovely weekend - spent most of Saturday in the garden planting things, and yesterday we went for a walk and a picnic with the grandparents. Looks like the weather is changing though, so I'm glad I got the seeds in when I did. Shame it couldn't be fine for the childrens Easter Holidays, but the garden needs it according to the BBC Breakfast - we need the rain or we're in for a summer of hosepipe bans!
Today we're off to Grimsby to see MIL. Trick is to make it interesting for the boys too as they hate going over to see her so we're taking the dog and will take him for a walk around the boating lake and along the seashore. Then a short visit to MIL, perhaps a trip to the cinema and then another short visit to MIL before coming home. Think this is best for the boys and for her. Tea tonight will be something with mince as I got this out of the freezer yesterday. Perhaps spag bol as its easy and a favourite. Might try and pop into Asda as its in central Grimsby and not a huge trip out. Must see whats on at the cinema. so we're taking the dog and will take him for a walk around the boating lake and along the seashore. Morning all
Hubby's been dropped at the station with his packup, fish fed & I've been to Tesco to do a big shop, I've stocked up with all my dry goods, flour, sugar, tea etc. The shopping is now sat on the kitchen floor whilst I have a cuppa, there are no frozen good, so there is no rush.
WM is on & bed is about to be stripped & set going as I'd like to get stuff dry by the end of the day as the weather is due to turn in tomorrow.
 Have a good day everyone.
 Hugs Hester

            Morning all
Bright and sunny here, bit of a nip in the air but that will soon go. DH up and took boys to MIL's, it's on his way to work and a trip out of my way for me, so that's a bit of OS for us! Washing already out on the line.
Had a great weekend, joined DH at the caravan rally Friday after school, wall to wall sunshine all weekend. Provided ralliers with a ploughman's lunch with salad etc, Saturday lunchtime, not too many of us but everyone worked really hard and lots of work got done. I came back with boys Saturday evening as boys had last rugby of the season yesterday, only to find out late Saturday night matches were cancelled as ground now too hard! So just training instead, nice to stand on the sidelines in the sunshine watching with no coat.
Backed the winner and another placed at the National so been to collect my winnings, nice little surprise. Thinking of those horses that didn't finish and the jockey that's very poorly in hospital and his family, sending healing vibes his way.
Only have to work today and tomorrow this week then have Weds morning off, so hoping weather holds for me to get jobs done and then do something with the boys. Dinner tonight will be fish for us, chips for DH and jacket potato for me.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

            Morning silvermaid and everyone
Looks like it will be nice again, but distinctly cooler than the last few days - must strip my bed & wash the covers, too.
Finally planted my poor little apple trees - one of them is about to flower as it's been stood in a tub of water for the last couple of weeks! Also planted out garlic & strawberry plants, sowed parsley seeds & found some tubs to do cress etc., and pruned back some monster shrubs. Now to ring council to get them to remove the greenery. :rotfl:
Job hunting going slowly (need something as well as or instead of current job, work reduced my salary to unmanageable level!), but got a couple of applications on the burner that I need to get in this week.
Have a good Monday morning, folks, see you later. Hugs & kisses are FREE! :kisses::grouphug:

Eldest DGS Danny came round yesterday bless him and weeded my front path for me ,he is a lovely lad and I never ask him to do anything he just remembers that granny doesn't bend very well in the middle
I had sone lovely belated Mums day gifts from my DDs and I was spoilt rotten bless them.Yesterday afternoon youngest DD and the boys and I went to Whitstable for the afternoon but boy was it blowy and cold .The sun was out but a stiff north easterly wind was blowing and we all got a bit chilled but it was nice to blow the cobwebs away.Well time I got a wriggle on as time and the ironing wait for no one
