And a not very good pic of Star, but she is sitting on my lap, and I'm sitting on a very hard conservatory floor after taking Garfield's pic.

Came home from work.. let the cats out, took the dog out, came back with the dog, went down to get the cats. Fed the lot. Cleaned litter boxes, looked around :eek::eek::eek:

Off to bed with a book, will deal with it tomorrow
  • Hi all, sorry to hear your news Bearcub. I havent been on here much as I have been so busy and its taking me a bit of time to get back into a routine now that DS2 is back at school and DS1 is back working with his tutor.

DS1 has been very emotional today and felt really anxious in the supermarket this morning. I knew this would come after 6 weeks of not thinking about school and tutors but its so hard for him.

JPS glad you got the fridge freezer sorted. It will look all lovely and shiny and new in the kitchen. We have a second freezer that my brother gave me years ago and I think its not going to last much longer. Its a nice luxury and I will really miss it when it goes.

Nothing much planned for the weekend - should really try and get some cleaning done upstairs and its been a bit neglected this week but I am definitely going to have a lie in tomorrow!

That's very kind, YL, thank you. Sorry to hear about your DS, but I'm sure he'll find his feet once he's got into the swing of things a bit more. All of us who've had any level of depression gets scared at the thought of getting back to 'normal' life, and youngsters are no different. And after all, he has a little more to his barrier. <Hugs> to you who have to deal with the fallout.

FW, I'm SO pleased for you that you're enjoying the job! For the short time DD2 was working for a vet, she loved it. Thanks for the kind thoughts, and thanks for the compliments re the cats.

GR, not at all OTT, huh? ;) But thank you, we think the cats are pretty special, but so are yours, too.
  • well, i haven't been on for some time, folks.

i did wake up at stupid o'clock this morning (4.45am! normally 5.30am for work via two buses M-F) and thought about hoovering the desperately-needed rooms. but of course, my neighbours from one side are benefit trolls who stay up late and rise vv late wouldn't appreciate it. and have been online since.

now it's all sunny here, gotta put washing out. then lotti, jumble sale and plant sale (on opp sides of town - travelling 1.30hrs for both places!) then voluntary work for one hour via another bus, before i'll be home for about 4pm! rest for a short while, then i might just hoover, and do some alternative cleaning. i mean 'altenative' by cleaning something else that doesn't normally get cleaned regularly ie., the windows, or decluttering some area!

got some stardrops, but i'm not sure whether the tops of my kitchen cupboards will be cleaned with this. anyone know. haven't cleaned them for over a year and half now (eugghh, i hear you all shudder!)

    help!?

Love the cat pics, bearcub! It made me chuckle that you are sitting on the cold, hard floor, but Star is making herself far comfier. It really shows you what your place is in this household!
  • Well thanks for all your wise words.
However my work life balance is totally off kilter this month and will be for the next two weeks, I love my job, but because of this house is suffering.

GR, I feel your pain. Spending a whole day of my weekend clearing, cleaning etc is not my idea of fun. But I guess if I want next weekend to be better then it has to be done.

Dogstar, a year and a half, thats fine honest ! I have one very awkward kitchen cupboard the top hasn't seen a cloth since I decorated 4 years ago.

I will have a beautiful house, holding that thought.

I am probably going to frighten some people but when I had kitchen cupboards I NEVER cleaned the tops of them!! I used to get the hoover hose up there and suck up loads of dust every now and then, but cleaning them... who's gonna see those?!

Waiting excitedly for the new fridge freezer, Mum is very kindly paying for a little freezer stash to get me started, meat and bags of frozen veggies (I don't usually do fresh unless it's something seasonal).

YL, I have often thought of having a small second freezer, so useful for bargains like YS 10p loaves of bread, etc. that take up too much room in the kitchen freezer.

Emm hope you have a lovely day, I think I read that you were off today. It's the best day of the weekend so enjoy that garden!!

I am going to get in the garden today and just do a bit of tidying, too.

  • Yep a year and a half is nothing for cupboard tops! Stardrops should do the trick though. In the dim and distant future when we get a new kitchen I'm going to have cupboards that reach right up to the ceiling to remove the need for that particular job.

    Enjoy the new fridge freezer.

DH is currently patching up a bit of wallpaper, I was too slapdash to do it properly. Will just be having a mini do round later then that's that for the day. Enjoy your weekend.
  • but you haven't seen the tops as they're covered in sticky dusty grease. as i don't have an extractor fan and i'm a v. keen cook (cook from scratch every time), you can imagine that it'll be hard to shift. so do i buy a strong abrasive srubby thing, if so, what kind?
