Faith, doing Download in a hotel - yep, definitely sounds more my style:rotfl: What do you reckon bearcub? I think we should do it:D To be honest though it's just too expensive for me, and I rarely go to gigs because I have nobody to go with :'(

I only started going to the festies here because my DDs persuaded me, Cat. They came over for the 2004 festie (we were still in Surrey then, although DD2 had left home) and stayed with my friend. The next year, REM were headlining with Snow Patrol before them, and I SO much wanted to see both, that I came over with the girls, and we've been going ever since. We decided not to go this year, but had thought of going back to Guilfest, with DD1 and I staying in a B&B (DD1 is now in Pompey), but it never happened. They are expensive - £170 this year, I think - and, of course, for those on the 'north island', they have the added cost of ferries.

Hello, Princess. Sorry to hear that things haven't been going well for you. :( Must be hard to motivate yourself, but we're here to encourage, if that's any help. See, sonastin's an expert! ;)

    you're doing well princess!! :T

    So far today I've :-

Filled in the bits I had to do on DD2s EMA application - just got to send part of it to the DWP for them to do now.

Washed down all the cupboard/drawer doors in the kitchen, and the WM, FF and radiator and parts of the walls. Some of it was really grotty..:o Just the door and windows to do now and that'll be all the vertical surfaces in there done. Except the cooker ....damn......:p

Taken chicken out to defrost for tea tonight.

Flushed some old meds down the loo!

    Filed a few things.

Went out a delivered some mis-delivered post where it belongs, and bought some cold sore cream in Boots with my advantage card points. I haven't had a cold sore in about 10 years so I've no idea where this one's come from and no, I have NOT been kissing anyone - more's the pity!:rotfl:

I know I'm still putting off the really daunting stuff though :/

DS on school holidays now - well, they break up tomorrow lunchtime really but ....so I'm going to assign him a couple of jobs to do over the summer. Not too much, and nice weather is so flipping rare here that getting out on those days takes priority - but he can take the rubbish down for me on his way out, that sort of thing:D

Ha! Was just starting to chop the chicken for tea when DS came in and offered to do it - all I can hear from the kitchen now is "ugh, this is horrible, how can you touch this, ugh":rotfl:

Plodding on with the LR, have put a lamp out to take to the dump and I think the exercise bike will go the same way. I've got a pretty clear floor now!:j

Cat, you're doing pretty well, aren't you? :T See, I knew you could do it, tennis or not! Is the jumping emoticon you doing exercises without the bike? ;)

Hi jps, good to see you again, if only briefly. :)

Yesterday, I put away dried washing (mostly my stuff), cleaned the hob (OH manages to spread mess far and wide, bless him), emailed the finished summer newsletter to lots of people in local churches, put the shopping away that OH had bought in Lidl and just dumped, swept the kitchen and conservatory floors and cleaned the bathroom. Not sure why with the last, considering we had the plumber coming today, to try and sort out why the grouting had cracked in the new shower. Good news - there's no leak; bad(ish) news, the plumber doesn't know what's caused it, but suspects that the false wall had moved a tiny bit. Anyway, all is as was when it was first done, and you wouldn't know that anyone had touched it. Because he'd had to remove some tiles, I did have to sweep the floor, in case we trod on something sharp when we had bare feet.

Not had a lot of chance to do much today. Because the plumber was here, I went to the yard on my own to muck out. A friend called in, so everything took a bit longer, although it was good to see her. Grabbed lunch, posted on a couple of forums, then realised that I was late picking Mum up to take her to the hairdresser. Had a short time at home, then picked Mum up, took her to the Co op to do 'a bit' of shopping (hmm!), then to the garden centre to get some compost. Spent an hour or so with her, having a cuppa. Tomorrow, I'm out all day on the mainland with DD1, to help her celebrate her brithday, which is actually today. We're both into old buildings and gardens, so we're going to visit Romsey in Hants, a place we've only travelled through, but never stopped in. So, no de-messying tomorrow, either. Ah well, I doubt the world will stop because of that!

    Hello all

Oh, I've also found a cleaner but I can't let her into the house until it is tidy! At the moment we don't let visitors in it's so bad.

Machairs, others have given some very good advice but I'll add this.
I have a cleaner because I'm disabled - now working from home - and my kitchen was horrific the first time she came. I was out at work and she had called for a key beforehand.
She later told me she'd seen much worse and she left the place immaculate. She still does.

I did have a friend cleaning for me prior to that, but she expected me to tidy everything up so that she could clean. I couldn't do it and we could have easily fallen out over this.

A professional cleaner should be able to cope with everything. She wants you as a client, so she's hardly going to make you feel embarrassed or ashamed.

Hi everyone. Havent been around for a few days and seemed to have missed a lot! Great to hear you sounding so much more positive Cat.

I do a bit of voluntary work from home (paperwork mostly) and have got a bit behind with it so that has been taking up a lot of my time. Everything else seems to be getting a bit neglected and the kitchen needs a really good scrub as does the utility room which as ever is just a dumping ground.

I had a visit from a neighbour earlier and she got as far as the utility room, I was cringing as I was talking to her because she is one of those people who always has an immaculate house. I just dont know how other people do it.

I am going to try and get on top of things before the kids finish school. Think I need some kind of plan!

Hi everyone. Welcome to the new poster.
Today Iv washed the landings and stair carpets plus rugs. Black is the only way to describe the water after . Cleaned the kitchen and did some laundry.
Iv had to move the dog cage from the kitchen to the hall as a certain cat would not go past the cage to the cat flap. Result was poo on my carpet ,hence the carpet washing.
Took the dog for a walk with my dd and thats it today.
To the person who asked how old the dog was he is about a year now. He is very clever but destructive which is why the cage is still in use. One day he will be trained. I hope.
Cat nice to see your doing things and you sound so much brighter.
    Hugs everyone.

thanks bearcub/Yorkshire/snookey:D I am feeling better, and a bit chuffed with myself:o My motivation is for DD(s????) to come back to a transformed house and see that I'm not completely useless - but I'm doing it for myself too :)

YL I wonder how people can have homes like that too - does she have children??

bearcub enjoy your day tomorrow and happy birthday to bearcub Jr:j

Good job with the carpets snookey! I have a plan to buy a new carpet cleaner sooner rather than later, but it'll take gallons and gallons of cleaning fluid to get mine decent!:o

I've pottered about a bit more in the LR, going to do tonight's dishes and then call it a day. Need to go shopping in the morning, then I'll just do bits and bobs as the mood takes me :)

    Hugs all xxx

Sometimes we need to look at ourselves through other peoples eyes to check that we are the person we want to be. If you want to show you DDs that you can do it, its obviously because you want to do it.

Now would you mind sharing a bit of that motivation with the rest of us? :rotfl:
