Ohh be safe bearcub, it's getting a bit rough.

:rotfl: It's ok, jps, I don't think Kitty and I will be floating away - the island's quite firmly anchored in the Solent. I hope so, anyway.

Well done, that Kitty! :T Very difficult to do much when you can't see any reason to anything at all. If the swap happens, will you be staying in the same area?

You've been a busy bee, Snookey. Hope the dog's not too uncomfortable. We don't have a bath, but have a nice big shower! :) When we get old, we'll put a seat in it.

Well, as you might expect, it's blowing a hooley down here near the Needles. As far as I'm aware, though, there's little damage, except the odd small branch and loads of leaves down. I feel really sad for the nesting birds. I hope no threatened species has lost its nest overnight, or even now, when the gusts are very strong. It seems that quite a few folk are stuck here or stuck on the mainland wanting to come back here, as some ferries have stopped running altogether, and even the big car ferries are struggling to run a service. "Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside!"

Oh you have no idea just how happy I am to hear that! I don't mean that you're stuck in such bad weather...let me explain. OH comes from just across the solent from you and I've dragged him up to North-West England. I have to listen to an almost continuous complaint of how much worse the weather is up here. While its a wee bit blustery up here and wet and foggy like you'd expect, its nowhere near "stopping the ferries" weather. To be able to give OH live up-to-date "thank god we live up here away from all that bad weather down south" fills me with no end of joy :rotfl:

Hope you keep safe down there though. When it gets wild, it gets REALLY wild :D

Thanks lovelies :) Job really is fantastic, very busy and I'm not even doing my actual job yet, but I've longed for a job for so long where I'm doing something all day, rather than sitting around clock watching or doing things that don't need to be done just for the sake of having a job to do.

I've not done much so far today, been shopping and managed to spend under £20, thank goodness after the massive £75 one I did in the week. Normally I think 'Oh, I'll just stock up then my food bill will be tiny each week' but it all goes to pot, so I do a massive one then still somehow spend the normal amount. Have decided I'm going to try doing a massive 'master' shop once a month, then just top up. Will require a massive degree of planning and self control (both things not on the top of my personal asset list) but I think it'll make it so much easier for me. I did my master shop on Monday and got all of OH cereal bars, cup a soups and noodles for the month and just kept them in my car, saves them all having disappeared and me getting angry at having to replace them. Sounds naughty and he'd hate me if he found out, but needs must :(

Took lots of photos of the flowers that are appearing in our garden; this is our first spring/summer in the house so there's lots of nice surprises. The roses on the front fence have survived the 39mph winds yesterday better than I expected, so I bounced around and took lots of macro photos of them. I just love close up photos of flowers, makes me smile :)

Hope you're ok down there Bearcub, and that it's subsided today :)

Well done for your de-messying Kitty :) Anything is good when you've been struggling!

Snook- glad your shower is getting sorted :) is the dog giving you the 'where have my bits gone?' look? I felt so bad getting Roger done, he was 8 when he had his taken off bless him, I would've just left them if I'd been allowed.

Fuddle- how are you feeling today?

(((hugs))) to anyone I've missed :)

Afternoon messies, MM I take pics of my flowers too, I love my garden and at the risk of sound utterly corny every flower makes me feel happier somehow. I love going out there and seeing something just starting to flower.

I have trouble balancing bulk shopping with top up shopping as well. I often end up buying too much for my very small freezer and storecupboard, and I've made some mistakes such as buying 30 tins of mushy peas at 13p each but finding now several weeks later they are 6p a tin in Tesco!

Hope all messies have a lovely day.

I know JPS, I've got lots of storecupboard space and very little freezer space, I'm dying for a chest freezer but keep being told we haven't got room, which is most unfair :( Dusting done, laundry done, dry laundry put away, and gathering bits up that should live upstairs :)

I have resisted getting a chest freezer so far, mainly because I know my own personality too well! I'd end up freezing loads of stuff, then "not fancying" it and cooking something else up instead, then have to throw freezer-burned/degraded stuff away after years of it lying unloved in the bottom.

I'm like a bloke in that respect I think! So it's probably for the best that I only have a small freezer, less gets stored and throw-aways are minimal.

However the more I get into the idea of OS and thrift, the more I want better freezer storage so maybe one day I will give in... we'll see.

Hi Messies! I`m back...briefly...chance to catch up & respond to posts - I`ve read & rushed off, but Oh How you`ve all helped!!

First, Messy Mare, ((BIG HUGS)) to one of the dearest Messies here - I`m SO pleased for you MM, I was so chuffed to read your happy post about your new job.xxx

JPS - and all Messies re IRONING - I used to do a lot of sewing, making things...that was fair use for an iron, pressing those seams flat for the first time...but - Laundry & Ironing? NEVER!!! (Well, not for the last 20 years anyway. )
Frugal, I`m glad you had a chuckle, but was serious, I meant every word!
I`m glad you`re considering letting some of your garden go `wild`. Brambles WILL sprout and go berserk (you should see mine!) but when you get a few minutes between showers you can go and snip them.back, again & again...
Bearcub, thanks for your support on the anti-strimmer thing - my mind is made up & settled now, OH has accepted this as fact.
Snookey - hope your dog is ok now , & re the `crater`made me smile - one of my dearly missed old boys used to do that, especially in hot weather, then lie in the cool crater...can hardly see where it used to be now, shoulder-high in nettles!
Kitty - hope your OH is better, at least poorly they get over, Slobby they don`t!! Hugs to all Messies who are struggling with their Menfolk - I`ve given up ranting at my DS, it`s so pointless. (DGD when present lately has dropped Large Hints at her dad on my behalf, that seems to get through a bit, so can report a slight improvement there. OH doesn`t make a mess, so pointless ranting to him about other folks` mess. It all gets a bit Stalemate-ish...till I get a few days off and do a binge-clean.)

Snookey, Hope your shower gets fixed ok - I hate it too when there`s an item I rely on that`s not working. My late hubby was good at fixing things, so I never had to thyink about it. Now, I`m the one who has to sort out getting someone IN to fix things, and I end to go into `personal disaster` mode till I`ve got it sorted...

I do hope all who`ve felt `down` recently feel better now - whether it`s by getting some de-cluttering done, or some crafty stuff, or just a CBA & keep cosy day, the weather has been so carp here too- it`s not exactly motivating...I am worried about the little inhabitants of my `bee-hotels`...hope they will hatch safely and not too soon till weather improves - so far, nothing happening there!

MM & JPS - I have 3 freezers, and I know exactly what you mean about not using them to best advantage - but yesterday after work I nipped into the co-op just for a lottie ticket, and had a quick look in the `reduced`fridge - came home with THREE DUCKS just 4 quid each! Had a quick rummage to accommodate them in upstairs little chest freezer, VERY pleased with myself about that! I really must organise freezers soon though....
DGD in residence this weekend, she`s doing the roast veg for veggie spag-bol again. HUGE panful, will probably get scoffed by mid-day tomorrow!
Happy weekend all. (((HUGS))) to allxx
Drags self off to supervise DGD with the blender...

    I need Flylady Stat.

    My room is toxic.

I went out yesterday and bought some new furniture (only two pieces) with the aim of spending today tidying and well......gutting my room and having a good old rearrange.

However my boss called and asked if I could work this morning so I said yes........as ever on a Saturday Mum has my sister over so that means I can't do anything for the 3 hours they are here (in the afternoon). Then once they leave we have dinner.

I am currently waiting for dinner and REALLY need to clean out the small furries.

I absolutely need to work out a new approach to my life. The longer I am on this thread the more I realise I am repeating a pattern.........leaving everything and letting it pile up so I can have a BIG cathartic clean out.

However whilst I used to do this and actually enjoy it now the joy (!) has worn off. I know I need to move out. And that is what I am aiming for, I used to want the perfect bedroom ;).

I walked round Ikea yesterday planning my flat! and then came home to toxic ville. So much mess and so depressing.

To be honest I don't have time to be spending a whole day cleaning. There are too many other things going on.

It is also becoming apparent that Mum is doing less and less - which is absolutely fair enough! she is getting on bless her. And I need to find some time to do the stuff she doesn't see and forgets or now doesn't mind.

And I have been thinking all this for months. But not really admitted it out loud.

    Anyhow dinner is ready.

    back later

Hugs for Kitty - hope you ok lovely xxxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

I think...we may have laid the last brick today

Still have plenty of sorting out to do, and hardly any plants, apart from trees and tomatoes, but I think I'm definitely going to have a garden when we're done :)

I do feel quite guilty when you talk about your lovely, overgrown, wildlife-friendly gardens, Ems and jps, because I had one of those a year ago. Now, apart from the bit around the pond, I don't. It's actually quite sterile in some ways. But I couldn't afford to maintain all those socking great Leylandii, and the trees I've replaced them with will be much better for wildlife in a few years' time. It looks terribly newbuild atm, though, which is a pity in a house old enough for the garden to be getting established. But the remedial work is now done...onwards from here!
