Feeling down. Been up since 5am and so got the whole house really tidy before 9,30 when my sister and mum came to visit. They left at 3pm and all the kids have trashed upstairs, the grown ups have trashed the kitchen making lunch and now I have washing up everywhere. I feel so cross. That's life I guess. It will have to wait till tomorrow because my mood is so rotten I begrudge doing anything!

    Hi Frugal, welcome back!xx

I`ve had a great evening - pub with OH, fun & laughter, we sat there neglecting the beer ...PLAYING SCRABBLE!!! Not sure who won, haven`t added up yet, got home and as it was dry outside we quickly earthed up the potato grow-bag, and put up more canes for the runner bean tubs. . That`s 2 `urgent` items off my tomorrow list. The only 2, actually.

Fuddle, I just don`t believe in ironing, it`s against my deepest principles, ecologically & personally... It grieves me to think of busy folks doing it, and the electricity wasted....

Had Deep Speech with OH about wild garden, it`s about usual time we get Strimmer Man in for the annual mega-strim, but I`m not sure I want to...It makes a complete change in the garden habitat, and I wonder what we`re wrecking, and if we should...OH has volunteered to participate in `necessary` patches with scythe or grass-hook. I`m thinking this is the way to go, and will do it even if he backs out.
Off to do duck & black bean thing now, while OH calculates the scrabble score.

LOL at your whole post Emm! Not sure how serious you are on any of these but I had a good giggle as I never iron and am proud to tell people nowadays as I cannot understand why people spend several hours a week doing it!

Am seriously thinking of turning the back end of the garden over to "wildlife" and not mowing or strimming there anymore but am a bit worried about bramble appearing.

And loved you saying that 2 jobs were off your list for tomorrow "The only 2, actually"

:D If only everybody thought like us!

What is this ironing you speak of? :D I only know my iron via my patchwork hobby!

Still doing my rag rug crochet - had to take it apart and redo it, as the width wasn't right.

Glad you had a good night in the pub Emm... and hope everyone is having a good night whatever you're up to.

Ahhh, reminded me that I do iron once a year when I do my Christmas Crafts and the fabric needs to be flat :D

The rest of the year, the ironing board makes a very handly burglar alarm at the back door - by leaning it up against the door, if anyone were to break in there would be an almighty clatter!!!
Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

Curtain pole installed in the living room
    Paint curtain pole
Window quilts for landing window & french door
Add shrink film to the kitchen door & insulate
    Insulate front door
Bubble wrap windows & french door
    Wash front door curtain
    Blind for the bathroom
Find wrist warmers & the wool socks!
    Wash heated throws
    Wash duvet & wool blankets
Buy vest tops to go under clothes and PJs
Buy nets for bathroom and kitchen
Buy or make blind for kitchen

Oh, fuddle! <<HUGS!!!!>> People can be so thoughtless, can't they? I can't belive that the kids were allowed to run riot and trash your house. :(

I'm glad that the plasterer did a good job, laurel. As for the wardrobe, I'm sure the best decision will be made in the end. As you say, set a good example for your D! We have a plasterer in the family - well almost. Hopefully, when we re-decorate next year, DD'2 bf will skim the walls for us. Awful about your D's bike, but so, so good about your D herself. How scarey!

I sometimes wonder why we have pets, Buffy. But we wouldn't be without them really, would we?

Btw, Frugal, I enjoy ironing, but I keep it to a minimum. I always wait until there's a decent programme on tv (pretty rare! ;)), and do the ironing while watching.
  • Hi Messies!!

Apologies for not being on here for a while, just not had the time! I would love to say that it's because i've been cleaning the house from top to bottom but i haven't! ;)

Sounds like a few of you have been busy though!

Weather has taken a turn for the worse today, at least the weeds in the garden are getting a drink. Tomorrow i'm going to iron the kids school clothes ready for monday.......

I have just picked up 21 items of clothing belonging to my husband off the bedroom floor. I have left the growing pile there thinking at some point he might move some of it or the pile will grow so big he cant get into bed, but its a waste of time. My options are to have a massive row with him which makes no difference long term or do it myself.

I think in your situation I would take a 3rd option - put a rubbish bin in the corner of the room. Everything that is left on the floor goes in the bin. OH is then asked to empty the bin - up to him whether its into the wardrobe or into the outside bin :rotfl: Other alternative would be to keep putting it in his way somewhere, if there's anywhere that wouldn't be in your way. I'm thinking drivers seat of his car, unless you also drive the same car. Or his garage/shed if he's anything like my OH!

Maybe I'm just really really petty :D

This bothered me, because although I am definitely not a tidy person, I like to know I *could* tidy up if I wanted to. A place for everything, even if everything isn't in its place. I suppose I like to think of the mess as optional...sort of a lifestyle choice :p

This is definitely me! If I happen to get the place tidy, I need it to stay TIDY. I can't bear anything out of place - and by that I mean even something not quite placed square or straight:eek:. But as soon as there's a few things out of place the whole lot can go to ratsh!t and it doesn't bother me any more. And so in general, I choose to leave it in a state so I don't get worked up by the little things. Good thing that we're not allowed shoes in this house because the one that used to really wind me up was when one of my parents would kick off their shoes and leave them where they fell off their feet. Or worse still, kick off ONE shoe . There's nothing rational about my perfectionism if I let it take hold :D

OH has spent the last 20 minutes tidying up the clutter in the living room. And then walked in with the (folded up) camping table and dropped it in the middle of the floor. Apparently he'll be putting it up at the end of this TV show so that he can do some building drawings. And there was me thinking it would be bed time then! Oh well, I don't come in here in the morning before work and no doubt he'll have tidied it away again by the time I get home from work.

I now know, for sure, that my house is a mess!!!

My 15 year old Dyson vacuum cleaner gave up the ghost at the weekend and I bought a Miele Cat & Dog. OMG - I can actually see how dirty the carpets & upholstery were

Nothing like a new appliance to give you the motivation to clean :)

Upstairs is getting the treatment tomorrow :j
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
