Hi Messies! Finally, it`s MY turn for some days off now, & Thanks be to God my last shift on that marathon stretch was a positive one ...after last Friday when it was so bad I truly felt like resigning - and each day since, there`s been one `Special` positive moment, each one about different individual patients - that`s 3 consecutive days that made the rest of the carp feel worthwhile...yesterday, the senior medical reg. on call gave me a `high 5`, it was just about one patient, something that took a lot of patient explanation etc., nothing `dramatic`, just one thing that went unexpectedly well.
Then home, quick supper, looking forward to a lie-in.
Today - Buggritt! Went to the pub with OH.
Got home, made a fire, supper in progress...catch you all tomorrow!
The MESS can wait...0 -
trundles in to say I haven't done a thing in the house today... and I don't care0

Just popping my head around the door to say hi. We were at a family do yesterday so I had a late night. No alcohol involved, I was driving, but very sleepy today. Must be getting old.
Nothing achieved today at all. In fact I am off to get my jim jams on in a minute. Bit peeved because I had organised a nice day out with my Mum and kids tomorrow but the forecast is awful. Isnt that just typical? If our plans get rained off then I will have to do some housework!0 -
Jps, I'm not a singleton - been married for 38 years - but our Ds have homes of their own on the mainland, and OH and I retired early. I occasionally do housework, but OH does all the cooking, so my time's mostly my own. I have quite a few hobbies, so it's easy to find an excuse for not de-messying, even though some of the hobbies are responsible for some of the emss in the first place!
Oops sorry bearcub, but we're still long lost sisters in the excuse-finding department (and the hobby-mess department!)
Emm hope you really enjoy your days off, you really do earn them. I have a family member who has been long-term in hospital and hospital based rehab, now home - but I have an everlasting respect and gratitude for hospital and health workers of all types.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

No need for apologies, jps, easy mistake to make. At least, now I have a small cache of birthday cards made and, although I have a couple of specials to make (one for DD1), I could put some of the papers etc away. Note the word 'could'.
Emms, I'm so glad you had a good ending to this particular batch of shifts. Enjoy your days off, as much as possible.
Conservatory now cleaned - at least, the windows and surrounds, and the blinds are. Tomorrow, I'll get OH to help move the two cupboards (one full of some of my craft materials), so I can clean behind them. I moved another piece of furniture out there whilst cleaning the windows, to find a huge number of dead woodlice, obviously collected together by spiders. I'm not at all sure just how all those woodlice got in there in the first place! Also dusted the lounge and, out of the goodness of my heart, and concern for OH and the cat on his lap, I did the washing-up!
Tomorrow is breadmaking and washing day, and acting as chauffeur (or should that be chauffeuse?) for Mum. I think more rain is forecast. Oh, joy!0 -
Hi to all. Despite my best efforts to have a lazy long weekend, it's been scarily productive here this weekend. OH wanted to clear the "living room" area of our building site so that its ready when he get to the point of being able to work in there. It involved moving the bath and washing machine that were in storage there into the room which will eventually be the bathroom but is currently the store room. And that involved serious decluttering and sorting of the store room to make room for them both!
OH did have one of his tantrums in the middle of everything - when he demanded I drop what I was doing (which he told me to do 5 minutes earlier!) to help him sort out the cupboard in the hall, I didn't have the guts to tell him that I'd already shifted my possessions out of it and the rest of the carp belonged to him. I meekly stood and watched and occasionally shifted stuff round to the bin! So store room is much tidier, hall and "living room" are now empty ready for major building work. And the rest of the house isn't looking too bad either. Nothing has been cleaned for a couple of weeks but OH ran henry around the place yesterday and most of the clutter is hiding.
Today we popped into Buyit&Q to see what they had on offer. Found some really pretty border tiles that OH & I both liked for the upstairs bathrooms which were on end of line clearance. 20p each, rather than a couple of quid or so. So we got plenty as we're putting 2 en suites in eventually. Probably sometime in 2014 but you've got to pick up the bargains when you see them!
Hope everyone has had a great weekend / week (for those who didn't get the bank holidays off!). Sounds like there's been lots of productive activity amongst us messies but I'm glad to hear there's been enough CBA going on to maintain our usual messy standards.0 -
Oh carp - OH has just pointed out that its been raining for the last half hour and I've got washing on the line. It was probably dry too. Its only OH's winter work clothes (from the hall cupboard) and bedding that was festering in the store room so it can probably have another rinse outside but I was feeling so smug for being on top of everything!
Oh well, messy disorganised business as usual...0 -
Sonastin, it sounds as if you and your OH are doing a MASSIVE renovation project! So very brave of you both. There must be times when you think you'll never have a comfortable home, but I do admire you. DD1 and her bf had plans to do something similar, with him being a builder, but I think they may be changing their minds. Well done for keeping quiet when your OH complained. :T0

More gardening.
I don't know where the time goes. I honestly don't.
There isn't a single big thing to which I could point and justify my day. Or even a catalogue of related little things.
But it's Wednesday tomorrow. How did that happen???
You must be imagining I have acres of garden. It's actually very small. But the months of work are as much about what isn't there as what is, IYSWIM.
Anyway, whatever I've been doing, it's taken all day. So it must have needed doing.
But I'll have decorating to do after the plasterer comes on Thursday, I haven't even looked at carpets, I need more bricks to edge the front border and I haven't even thought about my course...:eek::eek:
But more than anything, I'm a bit out of sorts. A friend I haven't seen for a while has posted a card through the door-she's taking part in a local art exhibition. I'm wearing myself out with four jobs, and doing all sorts at home, and she has the leisure to paint. It's not that I'm envious....oh hang on....I'm extremely, completely, utterly, pea-green enviousFortunately, it's the positive sort of envy that says "Oy! You could do more fun stuff if you weren't such a bloody martyr."
I think I should listen, don't you?import this0
