I think we're two of a kind jps.. I actually did all of the ironing in the end. What's wrong with us today :rotfl:
I've actually been really down about the bedroom, you should have seen the dust under the bed! So I really wanted it nice and clean so that I'd feel happier.
I'd also spilled hot chocolate on the giant rag rug weeks ago, so needed to take it up for washing. It all seemed such a lot of effort I didn't really want to start, but I'm almost done now - just stopping for a coffee before the last push.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

You can't beat the feeling of contentment that climbing into bed in a nice tidy and clean bedroom brings. Hope you can stop soon.0

Evening Messies. Coo, you lot aren't making the most of the Bank Holiday, are you?
Jps, I can't begin to think how messy hot chocolate on a rag rug could be. And how long does it take to dry once you've washed it?
Teebird, that's pretty impressive. You have jobs being carried over until the next month. I have jobs that have been carried over for month after month and, unlike those who have jobs and/or families, I have no such excuses. I am, however, very good at making other excuses as I go along. In fact, I've made it an art form!
With bathroom cabinet on the wall, stuff moved from cupboard to cabinet, and toiletries moved from toilet bag and plastic box to cupboard, with bag and box put away. While on a roll, I cleaned the door side of the conservatory, plus blinds which are floor to ceiling. I had wanted to dust the lounge cupbards, but ran out of time, as we were off to a Jubilee party at a friend's house. I really enjoyed my glass of wine.:)

More gardening... I think the weeds are growing faster than I can keep up. And I've been neglecting them in favour of the greenhouse and the tomatoes and other things that needed a start. But today, for the first time, I started working systematically from one end of the garden to the other. It isn't finished-nowhere near, but I'm planting as I go.
Well done to everybody who has been cleaning today.

I've finished now fuddle, it's all lovely and sparkly!
bearcub, we must be long lost sisters... I am also a singleton with no children and no obvious excuses... I have become adept at inventing them!
Spilt hot chocolate is very messy and shouts at you every time you go in the room, since the rag rugs are white! It doesn't stain, though, thankfully. The rag rugs are giant sized, so they don't fit in the washing machine, not even the big ones in launderettes.
I wash them in the bath, doing a grape-treading act - then pull the plug, leave it a day to drain well, then fill the bath with clean water, drain and repeat. Then leave to drain for another day, and it's light enough to heave onto a clothes horse over the bath, taking about 3 days to dry depending on the weather.
I have four of them - two for each bedroom  They have saved me a fortune in carpet, and are virtually free to wash, with a bit of washing powder and a healthy glug of bleach (I am the bleach queen, I'm afraid).
I haven't washed it yet... all four need doing at some point in the summer  I have put some smaller rag rugs down for the time being.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Morning messies! I have spent a lovely restful night in my sparkly clean bedroom (don't be too impressed, it's still only half painted
) and after a nice lazy breakfast I'm off to do some family duties.
I'll be back later this afternoon and I think some more crochet is in order (or rag strip preparation anyway), with possibly a bit of de-messying upstairs if I have the energy.
Have a lovely day all, whatever you are doing.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

ohhhh my goooodness I know I wanted a lie in, but not this much of one! Even B is up and at em before me. Still sitting here in my fluffy dressing gown feeling confused and groggy and not knowing where to start. Pork, leek and apple casserole went down a storm, may make an apple crumble today with my spare giant bramley.Unfortunately the casserole went down so well that I wasn't fast enough in boxing up the afters and he's eaten the entire crock pot full! Oh well, it's a compliment I suppose.
Was so peeved at myself on Friday, went to Mr T with my £5 off £40 spend, calculated carefully, got to the checkout and the voucher wasn't valid yet. Plus I got another one. Gr. Anyway, went and did a massive £80 shop of store cupboard bits, went to the self service checkout and split it into two halves to use both vouchers. Came home with a 'I beat the system' feeling!
Anyway, plans for today are just to do some more laundry and dust in the living room.
Laurel - weeding counts as tidying, I think :P

OOH1 People have been busy. I washed the dishes last night and cleaned the worktops and top of cooker before going to bed.
Today Im going to;
Brush and mop the family room, kitchen and hall,
Tidy ,
do some washing,
brush the landings and stairs,
Dont know what else oh, the bird cage
Bleach the bathroom.
That should keep me busy.
Ill see everyone later if I can still type .0 -
I'm having such a rubbish, unproductive day. All I've done since half 10 is put a tea loaf in the oven... I haven't even washed up the mixing bowl. I want to get something done but I don't know what. We're two people in a 3 bed semi but we somehow don't seem to have enough room for everything!0

Afternoon Messies from a very soggy IOW. Still, it kept fine for our Jubileeing yesterday, for which we're very grateful.
Jps, I'm not a singleton - been married for 38 years - but our Ds have homes of their own on the mainland, and OH and I retired early. I occasionally do housework, but OH does all the cooking, so my time's mostly my own. I have quite a few hobbies, so it's easy to find an excuse for not de-messying, even though some of the hobbies are responsible for some of the emss in the first place!
MM, someone who can beat any of Mr T's systems has my utmost respect. I dislke them with a passion. Well done, you! :T
Snookey, remember this is the Messies, not flyladies. Don't wear yourself to a frazzle.
Have done a long overdue clear-up of the bedroom, mostly involving magazines, books and shoes. The mags are sorted, with some in a bag to pass onto a friend; some shoes packed away (in the hope that summer will return!), others tidied; most books put back on the bookcase, and only those I'm currently reading, by the bed. With the bathroom now finished, the large plastic box in which I was keeping toiletries (in the bedroom) is now empty, with said toiletries now tidily arranged either in the cupboard or the cabinet. What I'm going to do in a little while is finish washing down the conservatory. You'd think it was enormous from the time it's taking me to clean it.Still, nearly there!
