I am a bit of a lurker but would love to join in with the messies! Fly lady scares me :rotfl:
My house is a tip, I don't work and have 2 school age kids but I just can't seem to get on top of things!
Washing piles up quickly and putting it away is the worst, I have tried to do the whole one load on dried then put away before starting the next but the sheer volume of dirty washing means I need to start a new load at least twice a day!
I have found some motivation with the great declutter thread and I am a regular seller on eBay so this helps.
I am currently learning to drive so it will be easier to do eBay posting and plan on doing some summer carboot sales too to help with the clutter.

Ok today so far I have done 3 loads of washing all outside drying now. I have done dishes and tidied kitchen, prepared a chicken and veg soup all whilst looking after my 2 yr old nephew.
I will now Hoover my downstairs floors and mop before picking up my little mess monsters;) xxx

If it's any help with the washing....... I fold mine into the basket as I take it off the line. Nicer doing it outside in the sunshine. Then I bring it upstairs and take it out of the basket and put it on my bed. That way, I have no choice but to put it away! I usually take 10 mins to put it all away when getting the wee one ready for bed, while she is getting on her jammies, going to loo, choosing a bedtime story etc.
It's about the one thing that doesn't pile up in my house, only because I have this routine. And I don't wash more than necessary. Clothes get worn until they are dirty. We don't need a whole set of clean clothes every single day! Oh, and I don't iron much which helps. Maybe a shirt or pair of trousers monthly!!!

(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

Yes I do that too, piles on my bed so I have to put them away at bedtime! My other half is very sporty so goes through lots of gym kits, towels, rugby kits and my kids do lots of activities with lots of different clothes so it is never ending. We do have far too many clothes too which doesn't help (bit of a shopping addiction on my part oops).

If it helps, I have now decided that life is too short to wash every item of clothing that my dh wears to the gym. He insists on training wearing lots of layers. He kindly leaves it in the gym bag for me to sort out. :pThe outer layers which are hardly even damp get put out on the line and the wet inner stuff gets washed. Obviously I only do that every other day, but it fairly cuts down on the washing as he goes to the gym every day off and plays football 3 times a week. Works for me. If anything smells it does get washed. I just realised how much unnecessary stuff I was doing!

My washing machine just gave me an error message, but its something to do with the dryer (its a combi) will just have to hang it all in the hall to dry until I get it fixed then )

Flylady herself is not as scary as the flylady thread on here I think, she says tackle a zone a week, not per day =)
  • Morning Messies! Welcome SqueakySue (and anyone else I may have missed)
Adela - your Flylady thing made me chuckle! `That`s big of her` I thought!
Flymessy Emm says `do what you can when you can be a**ed`!!
Off to work in a few mins, not home till 9.30 so NO flymessy activities here today!

Hi everyone. Iv not done any cleaning today too sunny out. Took the dog for a walk in the park . Im really lucky as its right in front of our house so its like having a massive garden.
I may do some cleaning later if I can find the motivation. Have been cleaning on a daily basis. Yesterday I moved furniture and cleaned those areas which remain hidden for months at a time.
I love the warm weather but all that bright light shows up the dirt .
Sue I end up with moutains of washing both clean and dirty. I hate sorting out the clean clothes and putting them away. Washing them is the machines job so thats okay.
Id love to be able to afford a cleaning crew to come in and blitze the house. Imagine that a spotless abode. I need to stop dreaming, lol.

    Hi Messies
    Today so far
made lunch and washed up ,mopped floor, cleaned work tops, ironed 6 shirts, done 2 loads of washing which is hanging out to dry. Helped DH do some post and rail fencing in the bottom paddock. Fed and watered the horses and cleaned out the hens and collected the eggs. Aiming to bake some bread and scones later as well as checking on the horses again and hoping to fit in a walk of around 1 1/2 hrs. Then its time to make dinner and afterwards a long soak in a hot bath.yikes!

    Evening messies.

Kitty, so sorry to hear about your uncle. <hugs> to you.
Hugs to Adela, with a painful toe - all you need with everything else!
Buffy, so exciting to be getting two puppies, but what a lot of work!
<Hugs> to all others who need them, and well done to those who've had a try at being flymessies. :T
    Welcome to newbie messies.:):)

Emms, yet more staff going? How on earth will the rest of you manage?

Sorry I've been away for a while. I have looked in a couple of times, but it's been late in the evening, and I couldn't post without looking back at all the posts, so I gave up. Naughty Bear! :o

Anyway, with the spectacular weather, the garden has had a strong pull on my time - dead heading daffs, weeding, and generally giving myself back ache - but so good to be out there again. Yesterday, I managed to clean and tidy the conservatory - a relatively major job, as it becomes a dumping ground in the winter, plus plants out there had left dead flowers and leaves, plus compost on several surfaces. Still, looking pretty good now. Also yesterday, I cleaned the bathroom and vacuumed the house, and did a couple of WM loads. Today, we spent quite a lot of time out of home, but I managed to spend some time with mum, did a WM load, typed out a L-O-N-G list of vinyl records, ready for advertising, and have started ... Ta-dah, writing a story. :) The latter is something I do every so often, when inspiration strikes.

Hopefully, I'll call in again tomorrow after we've taken the equines out for a ride. Must take advantage of this weather!
