My home is a mess

I've had a very productive weekend. Spent yesterday helping OH put workops into the new kitchen and in between managed to get 3 loads into the WM and hung out on my new washing line. Also managed to put away all the washing that has been hanging around drying in the house all week so all of the maidens are now put away. Had a bit of an experimental cooking session with some whoopsied goats cheese and filo pastry which led to putting today's joint in to marinade overnight too.
And this morning, stripped the bed and got that washed and dried. Helped a friend move a sofa. Cleaned the bathroom and totally blitzed the kitchen. Baked a cake. Set a loaf going in the BM. Planted some bare-root-stock fruit bushes bought from B&M last weekend. Made a scrummy sunday dinner.
Just need to wash up and make the bed again now. Feeling very pleased with myself!0 -
Hi Messies! Sorry I`ve been MIA for a while. Work has been carp lately, that`s without lots of shift-changes, plus depressing news that TWO dear colleagues are leaving us soon. ..may as well call it Titanic Ward! Also, literally a `sinking` feeling at home too - can`t use my kitchen sink, the drain below it is blocked so while I`ve wasted time & effort faffing with trying to clear it I`ve not been able to use WM and had to wash up in a bowl then empty it down the loo. Today`s first chance I`ve had to get someone in to deal with it - due here in half an hour. The accumulated effect of all this is just so depressing I don`t feel like me!
LIFE just feels like one big Blockage!
Kitty, I`m so sorry about your uncle. Buffy, your puppy news is great, Laurel, well done in your garden (mine is a bombsite still) HUGS((())) to all, I may post again later xxx sorry to moan & grizzle but thanks for `listening`.0 -
Hey, grizzle away. It's great to have this place to have a moan on, then we can be all happy and smiley for others!
I'm a lurker but gonna join in.
My place is a tip at the mo and it's getting me down, and making my dh totally fed up. MIL has always kept their house spotless, uncluttered, big dinner bubbling away ready for anyone to eat from about 12 onwards, AND she had a big house, 6 kids, etc etc.
I have 2 kids, but have a bad back the past 3 weeks and everything is taking 4 times as long to do and a lot of it is just getting 'left'.
I am determined that I am going to take one room at a time this week and get rid of some clutter. I will ebay, car boot and freecycle as much as I can as I am fed up getting moaned at for not having a spotless, perfect house.
Yes,I know it's worse just now because of my back, but as dh says, it wasn't that great beforehand either. All the jobs that were waiting for springcleaning, and for me to finish college, are now all still waiting for me, along with the daily grime and mess. GGGRRRRRRR!
Moan over, just feeling a bit fed up today.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Hugs to all... Laurel, don't worry, I have falling off the mse wagon moments too! On Friday I was so piddled off with the world I bought an enormous KFC on the way home even though I have good stuff here to eat. It was just one of those days!
Great to have you join the posting squad Rosie, hang in there!
Emm, sorry to hear about the blocked pipes... hope that gets sorted soon! I hate anything like that, it always costs money I just don't have. Hope work improves soon too.
Well done you sonastin!
Kitty, hope you are ok. Thinking of you.
The lovely weather has improved my mood a lot, but I'm still going to bed soon with the lappy, a DVD, a cup of coffee and some emergency chocolate! I'm not ill or even really down, but I do have a long day which starts at 5am so tend to be very careful to get enough R&R during the week.
Easter hols are rolling up... two weeks of blissful absence of young people (sorry parents!!) I love 'em, but it's great to have a breakOf course the weather will break and be grim, but I'm going to have a ball anyway

"Yes,I know it's worse just now because of my back, but as dh says, it wasn't that great beforehand either"
thats like me with the depression, I think of my great grannie with 6 kids and no money and always home baking on the table and meals from scratch and no indoor toilet and having to do all the washing on her allocated wash day... I mean how did they do it?
I am laughing at myselfbecause I am trying flylady again, but cant be bothered to put shoes on in the house, and then today I ran over my toe with the hoover and said a naughty word!
Humbug, she is right about dressing to the shoes!0 -
Like you Adela31 I currently have a bad back - most of this is due to having a twisted spine but recently it is also stiff making getting out of bed very difficult and bending down causes a lot of discomfort (some times I need assistance to stand up again) - from this you would think I was in my eighties not my thirties :rotfl:
My whole house is lost somewhere under piles of mess which I find this de-motivates me from doing anything about it, I am honest enough to know I'll never fly even though I agree with quiet a lot of the theory. But not the shoes, I always where slippers or crocs.
Today I want to tackle the dinning room, masses of things that belong else where or have no home end up in there as well as all the junk that belongs in there. As a result I don't think we have thoroughly dusted the dinning room this year
I plan to tackle it in small bursts (15 - 20 mins) and see how far I get.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I managed to clear some surfaces in our bedroom and put all the bits and pieces away in their rightful places. Noticed the scrap metal guy coming up the street early this morning, so I flagged him down and got rid of a huge broken printer that was sitting in my porch taking up so much space for 2 months, and a broken hard drive which I CBA trying to figure out how to get the binmen to take. The plan was to properly clean the porch floor now that the things are out of the way, but I have just spent the morning filling a basket on App Foods, only to find that there is no lucky box on offer, so I'm grumpy now as that is the best bit for me!
Think I will have a cuppa, watch Bargain Hunt and then do the floor. That will make me feel a bit more virtuous, and give downstairs the appearance of at least being a bit more clean!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Rosie- just remind dh that if he wants a house as spotless as his mother's he has 2 choices 1) he contributes to making it spotless not making it messy or 2) he lives with his mother. - that's a threat I use against my OH any time he suggests I don't compare (usually when it comes to cooking
). I know he can't bear his mother's company for more than a few hours at a time so suddenly my food tastes perfect
Adela - at least you had the excuse of running over your toe. Using the hoover is usually enough to make me break out in naughty words! Shoes are banned in our house - too much dirt outside from the building site so OH won't allow any risk of tramping it in. We have enough trouble keeping on top of normal domestic dirt let alone the dust and muck from outside!
jpscloud - the easter holidays were always a magic relief for me too. I think the combination of clocks going forward bringing lighter nights, improvement in the weather and finally having time off to relax always brought a sort of blessed relief. Since entering into the 9-5/ 4weeks holiday rat race, even the 4 day weekend of easter works wonders :T0 -
Adela - my old upright hoover ALWAYS made me say bad words as the belt always came off! I love my Henry though.
I`m off to work in a few mins, so all you Messies have a good day!
Messy status report - WM on yesterday & this am, blitzed kitchen, and sorted car tax - and actually ENJOYED being able to use kitchen sink freely again! Now in `work` mode as I`m there all day tomorrow too.
Off Thurs & Fri, have a list for then but otherwise it`s just `tick-over` basics here till then!
Drags self away from computer...0 -
Now, you see, if I was a teacher or sumthin I'd be lookin forward to the holidays too. BUUUUUUT I have kids! And quite frankly, I like my 'me' time when they are at school!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
