If you want to keep it, pierce with a needle at both ends and blow hard...what comes out will only be good for scrambling or omelettes, though:rotfl:Then give it a rinse through.

(I've done this for party forfeits..the child thinks they're going to have an egg on their hair-but it's empty :D)

Evening messies. Don't quite know why I've not been in earlier, just didn't happen.

Kitty, I'm so glad you're ok - what a horrible thing to happen, especially as you've no one near to help. glad the carpet's ok, and even more glad that you're obviously better enough to sort out so much stuff. Never eaten a duck egg, I gather they're very rich. Please let us know what you thought of it.

Well done all those who've been de-messying! I washed the kitchen and bathroom floors today, and done a wash for Mum, since her WM's leaking. Had an email last night, asking me to make a card, needed urgently, so what could I do but get all the papers out again? ;)

From what a friend told me, jacci, when you start using an arm that's been very 'protected', it does feel very weird.

FA, hope the injury didn't stop you enjoying your evening.

Hugs and hello to everyone else, cos I can't remember what everyone's said. :o

I feel really tired tonight, as I've not slept well for best part of a week. Just as well I don't have to go to work, isn't it? (where's a rolling eyes smiley when you need one? )

No Valentine's celebration for us - we've not celebrated the day since the first year we went out together. We did go out for a very nice meal last week, though, and that's almost better.

Gald it turned out well kitty!

No valentines day here either, I like the idea of a day in honour of love and all that but I've been a romance free zone for a while (unles you count BOB :D) and I'm very comfortable with that.

Hope everyone who is doing valentines day is having a lovely one!

 wife, I favour the "shove it all out of sight" method for times such as this! The problem is, I then forget that I've shoved it out of sight and it never gets unshoved, as my spare room and box room can testify. Good luck, I'm sure your parents will be much more interested in you than your house anyway!

I'm taking the moggie to the vet today, she's fine in herself but has a sort of "bottom problem" - don't wish to put anyone off their breakfast but I think it's an anal gland thing. Ewww.

  • I am very lucky because my Mum's house is worse than mine. In her defence though she went into service at 14 and worked incredibly long hours cleaning and has hated housework ever since. She is also now losing her sight so she can't see the dirt. It does mean she doesn't bat an eyelid if my place is a mess when she comes to visit.
  • Felt I had to post after having been reading through the thread............I work full time and usually manage to keep reasonably on top of the housework, however I had 5 consecutive days off work which doesnt happen very often and wanted to sort through cupboards, drawers, under beds etc........

I have purchased lots of storage baskets and boxes, however...........it is now my last day off and I havent even started, woken up everyday with good intentions but something better always comes long to distract me........

I know if I dont at least make a big dent in it today I will be really disappointed with myself, once I get started I know I will be ok. What do poeple do to take that 1st step? Seems like a daft question but when the task ahead seems like such a big one and it always looks worse before it looks better, just sometimes seems to make more sense just to leave it !

Welcome stokelady! I'm the world's worst procrastinator so I can't really offer much advice, but I have found when motivation strikes, I tend to stick the telly on or some music and work my way through a room until I feel happy with it. Problem is that results in mess and carp being shifted to another room, where it all starts again... :rotfl:

I'm also really good at getting distracted halfway through and starting on something else, but I think if I have the telly or radio on in the room I'm working on it helps me stay focused somehow.

ETA moggie is fine, just got back from the vet's - all rather undignified and I'm now being treated as a traitor, but her bottom is now... ok again :D
