  • Seems ok. I had a lovely day today - study day, interesting stuff, down-to-earth tutors, met folks from other areas of the Health Board. Best of all, mutual agreement to keep breaks short & tootle off early!
Went shopping on way home - got some very whoopsied nice sliced silverside at local Co-op on way to farm shop, got LOADS Of goodies there, very reasonable as I`m a regular and they look after their regulars. A bunch of fresh parsley, 2 trays of eggs, a carrier bag of Wilja spuds, a carrier bag of small bananas that had lost contact with their bunches, some home-cooked beetroot, and a big round crusty loaf (REAL)from local bakery, FS sell a bit of their stuff too - was lucky to get that in the afternoon, plus 5 blood oranges for a pound. All came to just over a tenner. Called in DD`s with the fruit and a tray of eggs.
OH had snappins of the silverside & some beetroot & cucumber with fresh parsley, a couple of pickled eggs, and a very thick crust. I don`t grudge him that crust.....but I`m still thinking about it...
  • Kitty & Bearcub - I must share a lovely quote - unfortunately no idea where it first came from `I met a Grown-Up once. I didn`t like him much`

Yes, Ilike that quote! Sounds as if you got yourself some real bargains there, Emms! I just love fresh beetroot, but we only find at this time of year in a big greengrocers in town. Must remember to call in next time we trundle into town. In the summer, we grow our own.

I'm glad that you had a useful day. After some training days, you can feel as if the whole day has been wasted. I can remember our deputy head insisting that we techies attended a staff training day, and ALL of it was irrelevant to our work. :(

    Hi All

Been MIA again, but all for a good reason

Only 480 days to my wedding

Venue is on hold - they give you two weeks breathing space to think with your head, not your heart

BF is making mine and BM dresses as our gift
DF's BF is taking the photographs as our gift

I am going to try to make the invites and other stationery myself
If I can do this without too many costly mistakes then will continue, otherwise have a supplier in the pipeline

My BF's daughter is going to design some centre pieces for me

We are thinking of having a guitarist to play background music during the meal

DJ is supplied in the venue hire

I will probably bore you all rigid for the next 479 days - might be a tad busy on the 480th :rotfl:

    Best Wishes to all xxx
  • Having had such a nice day, I decided NOT to spoil it in futile efforts to sort the house out. I now have 2 days off, so have opportunity to procrastinate. Again. IF I felt bad about doing this, I`d think of OH enjoying that thick fresh crust (Again.) Or DD`s brood having fresh farm eggs for tea - IF they hadn`t guzzled too many bananas first.
I DID untrash the kitchen tonight, and will soon peel & chip some lovely Wilja spuds - they make gorgeous thick chips - DS & I will have egg & chips for supper, with some fresh beetroot, and there` won`t be much of that loaf left...
Tomorrow, I have to go & seek out a new grate bottom for the fire, as we`ve burnt the arriss out of this one. A big chunk of metal has come away from the middle back section. I`ve just sort of laid it back in place a bit sideways, and made a fire tonight but daren`t poke at it, & put a log on VERY gently.
Kitty & Lori - old houses, old stuff - that doesn`t matter if you`re warm, fed, and comfortable. AND, an untidy Messy state is somehow even more Obvious when it`s in a modern house with modern stuff. Some things here I`d like to renew, but not really all that much when I look around after a good tidying.

    Evening!

I think my family are conspiring against me  every time I tidy an area I turn round a few minutes later to discover that they have messed it up again . Instead of calmly discussing it with them I have been a total nag and it has been getting worse. So this evening I sat them down and told them I am unhappy and that they need to start working with me not against me ;).

We shall see what difference it makes if any.

Good for you, Rummer! :T I hope it has the desired effect.
  • Gilly - (HUGS) & Congratulations to you & DF. Good to hear from you again, and don`t worry pet, you won`t bore us at all, just try to ENJOY the anticipations and preparations, and don`t stress. My dear late Hubby & I had lived together for a year (both cautious divorcees), then arranged a holiday when we could take the kids with us (his 2 who lived with their mum & my DS who lived with us).
THEN we decided to get wed the week before so we could call that the Honeymoon.
Special licence, a few days mad flap....
Then we took 3 kids on Honeymoon (if a marriage can survive a start like that it can survive anything!)
On our first wedding anniversary he bought me an engagement ring.
Dear OH now wasn`t around then, when he came on the scene we were like 3 best friends, and sadly now we`re only 2. But we`re able to be content as we are, count ourselves fortunate loving companions - nearly past it, but happy. Good luck Gilly, enjoy your plans!
  • Rummer, if it works I would like to know EXACTLY what you said, and beg permission to quote you to DS & DGD!
  • :cool::(Bearcub what's a YD? I just can't work it out
I love MSE freebies and comps. Thanks posters
