GreyQueen-how would you like to spend Christmas with me next year??:rotfl:

Fab idea re the jelly-rolling-may have to steal that one!!

jps-enjoy!! I'm a bit jealous, as I still haven't had the day sewing I've promised myself-and it feels like I have more work to do than I have holiday left :( But I'm afraid that if I don't keep going it will all be to do on DS's birthday and I'll turn into a stressed, panicky, snappy, tearful birthday-spoiling housework monster. So I think I need a plan.

    C-Day -11

    Stuff that must be done:

Spare room (actually DD's dressing room-sounds extravagant, but it's a typical modern house with two decent-sized and two tiny bedrooms-so DD has both the small ones)

Tidy. Clean. Wardrobe cleared. Bed made up with fresh linen and door kept shut to keep cat OUT.

Status: DD has made a good start. (You should have seen it before, etc. I know where the messy gene has gone...)

    Living room:

Christmas decs put away, hoovered, dusted

Status: I'm sitting with my netbook on my lap looking at it. Mmmmm.

    Study/dining room

    Dekibbled and cleaned

Status: Books back on shelves, except for piles for school/charity shop etc. More carp left over than I hoped. Much, much more...:(

    Kitchen/utility/all bathrooms

    Sparkling

Status:could be worse...undoubtedly could be a lot better. And the bin is full, which

All clothes washed, dried and put away.

    Status: :rotfl:

Stuff that would be nice to have done:

    Skimmed ceilings painted
. I really, really am fed up not to have done this yet. But you can't sand and paint when the room below is a mess, and by the time I've tidied up I'm just too blasted tired....
The plan was to prepare and paint through, but it isn't happening. I think I'm going to have to do one zone at a time.

    So that would be:
    kitchen
    utility
    downstairs loo
    hall
    landing
    children's bathroom
    my bathroom

I think this may be waiting for me after our guest has left...

Ditto-paint kitchen. I touched up with the old paint a while back-it's a totally different colour. Such a mess, but I don't think I'm going to be able to sort this out in time.

    Lawns mowed

Holes dug for the trees arriving next week. Actually, plan drawn so I know where to dig the holes for the trees arriving next week...ideally, this would have been done before I ordered the trees, obviously...but sitting down and drawing seemed like an indulgence I couldn't afford...and it's stupid, because I've just spent weeks stripping out the results of what somebody else planted without thinking it through...

Well, that's my breath back. Christmas decorations next, I think!!

Laurel, such a funny post, thanks:D

Oh I'd love to get the Xmas decs down now, I usually hate doing it but the tree lights conked out a couple of days ago and I'm fed up with it now! But I guess I'd better leave it up till after the New Year:(

Cat - why have you to leave the tree up till the New Year?? If you want it down, take it down, mine is coming down tomorrow and I don't give a fig about who says what about it, I want it down so down its coming - when everyone else does housework and all the other stuff then they have a say ooohhhh felt a rant coming on then . . sorry!!!!

Been shopping with DD this morning - yuck, we left the city centre just as it was becoming unbearable, another half hour and I'd of been having a strop lol

I've tidied up more Xmas stuff and got kids to take more of their bits up to their rooms, floor needs a bloomin good hoover - its minging

Off to remove more Chrimbo stuff out of my life and into the boxes in the garage

You're right Helen - I just thought maybe I should keep it up for the New Year party - usually I hate taking things down, it looks so bare, it's really just the fact that the lights have gone!

Decluttered CDs out of the kitchen, since I came home from the party last Tuesday and decided to do my DJ thing it's been a total tip in there. Likewise my bedroom where the CDs had previously been in storage boxes for 3 years but ended up everywhere in my drunken determination to find some obscure discs I haven't listened to for years!:o

PC desk HAS to be dekippled so I can put the new printer on it, it's a nice spacious desk but covered in total carp. Was going to make a start by marking sections in my file to put the paperwork into but ....errr.....I can't find a pen!:o

I have very few Christmas decorations deliberately so I don't start hating them and wanting them gone on Boxing day! I just have some leylandii branches with stick lights in between them, a larger set of stick lights with some tinsel on and a set of coloured lights on my tropical tree (nearly 6' tall!).

I like them as they tell me I'm still on holiday, so I won't take them down till Monday or even Tuesday, but I totally understand anyone wanting rid of them now.

I have had a lovely day sorting and cutting and washing fabrics, haven't done any sewing yet apart from a bit of practice, but have really enjoyed pottering :D

  • The tree is gone! The decs are gone! Dog is relieved to have his bed back in the correct place and the rat has regained her heady perch of the coffee table. Managed to make the spare room of doom into something pleasant to be in, mostly decluttered, just got a pile of magazines to go through then they can go on the burning pile. Got the next two days off, wewt, so I really should pick a couple of little projects to do. Butttttt.......I don't think I will. It's go with the flow time! OH got me a couple of books about making soap and beauty products and you just know he's going to regret that decision :D New hobby coming soon! (((hugs))) for everyone :)

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time

Just got back from the shops and mcdonalds. DD amusing herself on club penguin. Bought a years membership to keep her quiet, lol.
DD was brushing her hair and putting perfume on whilst we were out. They grow up so fast.
My decorations may come down in the next few days if I can be bothered.
Cleaned out the bird cage only for the little sod to bite my ear . Ear is throbbing. I made the mistake of picking up his dishes to wash in front of him. He is now sucking up saying sorry but is now behind bars.
Forgot dd birthday cake so Ill ask outlaws to pick one up on their way down tommorrow.
OH has been shouting at everyone due to being in pain. Now on the xbox playing a new game hopefully taking his mind off things.

    Decorations...ummm...untouched.

    Lawns....done by DS :j

Trip to supermarket to get black bags and boxes. Trip to recycling centre to get rid of broken PC (why did I put it in the loft in the first place???) and CD player. So I went through the house with black bags emptying bins etc and got rid of that as well. Then made a trip to the charity shop with four boxes of books. And washed up and made a reportedly fantastic chicken korma with leftovers in fridge. (I'm vegetarian-I wouldn't know) and a big pan of something tomatoey and spicy out of leftover four bird roast (ditto).

    And there goes a day...

DD and DS have brought down the boxes for the decorations, but the cat has taken up residence on my lap for the first time today, and dammit, she deserves a cuddle (and so do I :D).

Still keeping all areas cleaned for Xmas up to date. Determined to not let them get out of hand again - the 2 dump rooms will get sorted some time. Friends coming to-night so I'll have a final check round - dim lighting and candles work wonders.
