I got him drunk and seduced him lol. Not really! He proposed by taking me out for a walk at a lake on New Years eve, the sky was turning pink and we were watching 2 owls flying around, it was 4pm and he stood behind me, wrapped his arms round me and asked me to marry him - couldn't say no after he arranged the sky to turn pink!!! One of those memories that I will never forget. My Mum thought I was mad [we'd only been together for 5 months,] his parents thought he was mad. I met his parents once before we got married, met them again on the wedding day and haven't seen them since! I'm too old in the tooth to be bothered about impressing the inlaws and as for my Mum, well, lets just say that she's learning to regret her words muttered when I told her that DH had proposed hehe. We couldn't be happier - skint but happy and the kiddies love him. I had decided that no man would want to be involved with a single mum of 2 and that was ok cos I was going nowhere to meet 1 - couldn't afford to go out anywhere hehe but life throws us some funny curves in our path sometimes and you just have to be prepared for the ride

I was covering my mum's holiday (she worked sorting workwear in various factories) and I'm standing putting overalls away in the men's changing room when he comes through in nought but a towel :D cue some friendly flirting...

anyway, didn't really see him again for about a year or so I think; I bought my beetle and was at a local VW meet when he showed up. We sat and had drinks and talked for ages, when we both went to leave I asked if I'd see him again. I followed him down the road and it turns out he went round the roundabout several times to try to see where I'd gone!

My mum, embarrassingly, got his number for me and we went out on a few dates. I was (and still am) utterly smitten with him...we split up a year later, and were apart for a year sending eachother odd texts etc. One night I was rushed to hospital with a suspected blood clot on my lung; I text him to tell him and five minutes later he was in A+E looking for me. Mum went to get him, and he stayed with me until about 2am when the nurses kicked him out. We went on lots of little dates, and talked over previous problems...he had never told me he loved me and that was always hard for me to handle. A few weeks later he did tell me...I've never forgotten that moment :)

However much he annoys me...I do love him. So much :)

Awwww that's lovely MessyMare! Relationships take a lot of work and are all the richer for the ups and downs, I reckon.

Thank you but yours is so lovely too

Good job I'm not drunk yet or I'd be crying with all this romance floating around

Funny story = When I was about 17ish I went out with this lad - drink in a pub somewhere - we caught a bus back home, as I stepped off the bus my suspender belt broke and as I walked along it fell down along with my stockings. I stopped, took off my shoes, grabbed stockings and belt, hoicked them off, stuffed them in my handbag, put shoes back on and carried on walking as if nothing had happened, my red face told another story, I was mortified!!

oh my goodness those stories are like movies!! What a coincidence that you met up again at the beetle meet MM!!

I still don't think I could do it though, I WAS smitten with the guy I met 4 and a half years ago but I'm so fickle and for no apparent reason can go from one extreme to the other with someone very quickly :( I didn't used to be like that either :( So that's part of the reason I won't even contemplate starting a relationship.
