My home is a mess

Haven't been on to update for a couple of days as have been out and about quite a bit keeping kids entertained.
Off out again tomorrow. House is a complete tip. Will need to get it sorted out at some point as have 2 playdates here next week
Everyone seems to be doing loads, making me feel very messy!!
Ebay has been ticking over in my absence - two items sold today approx £22. Will need to get listing again though as have become a little demotivated with it over last week.
GOOD LUCK NATALIE - will be thinking of you. Hope it all goes well x0 -
Wow, Nat - hope it's all going well for you!
So, I'm crawling out of a miserable pit to having been quite productive.
Hubby & I were meant to be going out with friends tonight for a nice meal. Last night we sat down to look at our finances and realised we were very brassic this month (and yes, I know we're only 6 days in to the month, that's what makes it worse:eek:). We're not dire, we're not going to starve, but there was no way we could afford to go out.
So last night we stayed in and drowned our sorrows with a bottle of gin that we happened to have. :rotfl: Miraculously we woke up this morning without headaches, so we went for a walk to our local library (well, the central one on the high street is our local, but we went to the nicer one on the other side of the park!), a nice hour's walk & browse to pick up some books lifted our spirits, so when we got home we decided to 'make hay while the sun shone' - got the living room & bedroom clear and sparkly, a load of laundry done, and a load of dishes done. Made some lovely carrot soup for dinner too - and leftovers for tomorrow's lunchIn a better financial position than ever before (thank you MSE!). Moved back to Scotland and now trying to keep debt-free!0 -
I'd second what Laurel wrote about charm bracelets- do have the charms soldered on though, and make sure the ones you're buying are silver. Most independent jewellers will have a nice selection too
So far this weekend I've managed to do !!!!!! all, but I need to tidy up my side of the bed as I can't see the carpet.

I can't see the carpet either. But that might be to with not having any:rotfl:
There is only two of us in 3 bedroom house. We moved from a tiny one bed flat. We have not really bought that muchin the way of furniture (well it does not see like it anyway) and the house is full to bursting.
Of course when I was in the flat as it was so small it was case of one in and one out. Think it is time to start that again.
Also as we want to get the mortgage paid off sooner rather than later, I think impluse rubbish we will never use buys are going to have to go out the window.
Think It will be case of not buying because it is cheap and good buy. To will I use it in the next few months. If not don't buy.
As I said I might tackle another cupboard in the kitchen today. And I really don't want to think about the tall cupboard in the kitchen, it makes me want to go
On wards and upwards.
Take care and don't feel bad if you don't get anything done there are far more important things in life to do like sleep, eat, reading:j

Good advice Calley! I work from home and managed to get two work related phone calls out of the way this morning which has earned me a nice sum. My son has his GF over so regular meals will be out of the window- he usually has plans that clash with mine so I've learned not to prepare anything. I've resisted the urge to go shopping - I would only pick up carp I don't need, just like, I fear! - so let's see if I can get the place a bit tidier. My cleaner comes tomorrow and I always feel so guilty if I leave her a lot to do.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0

Afternoon all
Been to Tesco this morning and bought lots of their reduced gardening bits - its all dumped in the hall at the mo so need to sort that out
I opened the blind at the Kitchen window this morning and it snapped in half!! So have just asked someone on Freecycle if I can have the curtains and pole they are offering so fingers crossed
Off to sort out the gardening stuff now
Have a lovely day everyone

We're the same Calley- but my OH goes mental if I leave ANYTHING laying around- even my handbag, which I like to keep downstairs. However, he leaves his crud everywhere, but that doesn't seem to matter
Just done washing up- I last did it on Friday lunch time and I haven't eaten anything since due to feeling really ill- how ONE man uses NINE spoons, is utterly beyond me.

Spent the afternoon clearing the bit of back garden that goes down the side of the house - 2 bags of rubbish and stuff to take to the lottie, a massive headache and its all done and ready for winter
Can you tell I'm preparing for winter rather than doing the house!!

I have today off work, so going to spend it working in the home.
So far have unloaded DW and reloaded, but not yet full enough to go on again.
Cleared non perishable food cupboard. Believed I needed to do some stocking up and I don't apart from lemon juice and worcestershire sauce.
Bought some bar keeper's friend at the weekend and loving it - it has removed the marks from my ceramic hob, which the intended products could not - so well pleased. Now got the doors soaking in a thick paste of the same to see if it works on them - if not may splash out to get someone in - there is nothing wrong with the oven even though it is 16 years old. It cost an absolute fortune when I bought it but my Dad's motto of buy cheap, buy twice has probably saved me many times over.
Off now to do the next cupboard as my cuppa is gone, will report back later.0
