My home is a mess

Hi Buffy - if you do it, you have 2 options. Get it done before bedtime. Or sleep on the sofa till its done. Eitherway sounds like bloomin' good motivation for making it happen so go for it - sounds to me like a perfect way of setting up your house to nag you to finish the job!
It wouldn't work for me - OH would just crawl under the duvet and get into bed under everything. Then again, the sofa makes a really comfy bed for one so perhaps it would work... as long as I'm the one on the sofa!0 -
I got as far as the contents of the wardrobe!
Came downstairs for the spot of lunch and creme egg.
You know when you have those organisational lightbulb moments.......like I could keep the hoover(fake Henry) under the bed, I could keep my washing basket under the bed................I could make the shoe rack long and narrow and so on...............
any how not getting much done sitting here dreaming
xxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Have blitzed the garden a bit today - we FINALLY have some sunshine here so put the bunnies out into their hutches, theyve been in the house for five months this winter!
Tidied up the ledge along by the fence, found all sorts of crap lurking such as some old plastic plant pots which went in the recycling, and a plastic tub with an old paintbrush in it - we dont even know where it came from! Probably from some work we had done before the bad weather set in I suppose.
Anyway buns are out in clean hutches, paving has been swept but will need jet cleaning and weeding at some point. All the old china plant pots DM seems to have horded (also on the back ledge by the fence) have been taken and stored in the garage.
This means my room indoors needs a good clean, hoover, dust, etc! So will get on that later.
Painting is staying undone till tomorrow, although I will nip back out to the garage and get the paint, polyfilla and sandpaper organised ready to begin in the morning.0 -
Hi Messies.
Sonastin - the trouble with replacing a whole batch of something (eg jeans, bras...) is that they all go west around the same time as well!
Grousescot - I actually LIKE washing up (sad!) but maybe this is balanced by my non-ironing policy...
Buffy - do you have space under your bed or do you have to clear stuff out from there first? (mine is full of foldable storage crate things - mostly stuff that gets forgotten for ages, then will eventually get rid of most of it.) Good luck with your efforts, hope you have a comfy sofa so no need to rush the bed-clearing and lose heart!
I`ve done loads today - been to bank, done a few `important` phone calls, organised sick note, sorted fridge, started a chicken curry for tonight and rest of chicken for a casserole tomorrow. (normally do this the other way around but don`t want to go into hospital reeking of garlic!!)
List done for farmshop and Mr M`s for tomorrow morning.
New SIMPLER list done for DS!
Added stuff to list for OH.
Getting quite addicted to this list-writing lark!0 -
Very little done for the past few days, I fed the 5 thousand ( well it felt like that many) and had a lovely time with family and friends.
Today just pottered about really, bit of shopping done, posted a letter and did a bit of batch cooking and baking! Few loads of washing and the dishwasher but not really made a dint in the to do list! Little one had her swimming lesson.
I am hoping my mojo will return tomorrow0 -
Had another little mini blitz after my last post - had a spot of lunch and then went out and got the paint from garage, plus hunted out the sandpaper, brushes and filler.
our dining table has been listed on ebay so hopefully that will sell
cleaned out the cupboard and a draw in the conservatory, found some glassware and some old books which we are planning to put with the rest of the carp for car boot. need to sort the boxes for that out at some point actually, see if we can pack it any better as its making the garage very cluttered indeed.
found out some boxes with some bits and pieces in them - including a lovely bread knife never used, some cake forks + a cake slice, and some never used knives, forks, and spoons (the knives have bone type handles) - all wedding presents or gifts at various times given to my parents!!
in lieu of this we blitzed the cutlery draw, took out all the old and unwanted bits from there (some moved to a proper living space, and some to sell) and put the newer things in so they get used.
on the subject of getting rid of cutlery btw - does anyone on this thread know a good or safe way to get rid of or recycle old knives?0 -
Hello!
I have a cleared bed!!!!!!!!!!
AND a tidy wardrobe!!
Not much for charity shop.... I don't have that many clothes really, mostly cheap with a few good dresses.
Loads of shoes.
Plus I may have secured a new (to me) wardrobe. If Mum joins me on the clear out drive I may get hers.
That would be good cos I could have all my clothes in the same wardrobe and storage inside and on top for sheets, bags, shoes....
It is definitely possible to unmessy a house. DEFINITELY.
xx
Ps. some one asked if I have stuff under the bed........:o:o:o:o:o:o:o I er might have!Nevertheless she persisted.0 -
:T go buffy :T
but you know what comes next...
when you coming over to do mine?! :rotfl:0 -
Ooh, it makes we feel all wonky to think about things being under the bed. When I de-hoarded my house I set up a few rules and keeping under the bed clear was one of them. I have no idea why, under the bed is a really sensible place to store stuff but I just have it in my head that I don't want to have anything there! Weird.
Super sunny here today so I have a few loads of laundry out. Have had a bit of a tidy round. Went shopping yesterday and did a huge stock up so that means the pantry and fridge were cleaned and tidied. The bunnies have been cleaned out and I've done the floors downstairs.
Now, quilting! Have a good day everyone.0 -
sanded, wiped over and painted the windows in the conservatory this afternoon so far, then filled the holes and cracks.
I know you're supposed to do it the other way around but glad I did it this way as the new paint showed the holes up so had more of an idea of what needed doing!!
just taking a few minutes rest to let the filla dry then will go sand down the ledges again and redo the little bit of paint. wont take long to do that, then will do the wall area underneath before we lose the light.
car boot stuff to be organised later and put out with the other crates of carp in the garage, DM's going to help me with that tho
right better get back to the grindstone!0
