we have decided to spruce up our conservatory this week as its looking a little faded and the paintwork needs doing.
so that will require lightly sanding down all five windows and repainting the white around the sills. then have to repaint the main walls, save for one as there are two units affixed to it and would be heavy work that we can do without, besides no one ever sees behind them! :A
when thats done we'll wash the floor, get it dusted etc and put back, hopefully find out some throws for the wicker chairs and get them put on too.
might go through a cupboard out there and sort through some crockery and other china and see if theres anything we can sell on when the weather is better enough for our local boot sale.
need to relist our old dining table on eBay as its taking up much needed space. did list it many times before and got a buyer, but they never got in touch so that was a waste!
over next weekend we're going to see if we can move a few things around in and tidy up our living room, needs a good hoover, dust, and new throws, but the re arrangement will hopefully make it look better too. there is another cupboard in that room that we may go through and sort out in the way of china but I think its all mostly stuff DM wants to keep anyway.
another thing to keep me busy this week is going over some scratches on the alcove wall of one of the bedrooms, not much work really but got to make sure all the marks are covered completely so it doesnt look odd. I think one of them may even require a bit of polyfilla but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it!
also, got to phone a local charity shop to collect 2-3 pieces of furniture that are collecting dust in the garage. hopefully they'll come and get them as they wont fit in my little Ka! :rotfl: if not I might offer them up on freecycle.0 -
Hi everyone, hope your weekends have been enjoyable. I haven't been doing much about the place, just had a bit of quick tidy in the kitchen, bathroom and living room. Everywhere looks ok, chucked a couple of things away yesterday. Not much else to report although it has become apparent I need to clean the windows!0

Afternoon Messies.
It's good to hear you had a restful and spoiled time, YL. About time! Well done about the toy box - never ceases to surprise me how often we miss the obvious.
I don't have a massive amount of clothing, but I've been buying some new summer clothes - in the hope that we will actually have some summer this year! I realised yesterday, when putting clothes in or taking them out, that I keep replacing certain items back on hangers as they fall off. THEN, it struck me that none of these particular items have I worn for at least the last 18 months or so. It's not loads, but why am I keeping them? So, later, when the cats are out, I will open the wardrobe, remove aforementioned items of clothing, and put them in the CS bag!
Theatregirl, I sympathise with the conservatory 'thing'. Ours has been used more than usual over winter as a dumping ground, and needs cleaning and tidying. OH has taken some of the stuff to the dump, and I've vacuumed the floor occasionally, but it's been way too cold out there to do to much at a time. The bookcase out there is getting very messy, so I've ideas for tidying that up a bit, using another unit that's out there. OH has baby plants in there atm, but at least that a temporary holding place for something very useful. The blinds need cleaning - definitely a job for warmer weather, as it takes an age.
Alec e, our windows definitely need cleaning, too, not helped by our little tabby cat stretching herself up the doors or windows outside when she wants to come in. We do have a window cleaner visit every 6 weeks or so, but I don't think I can wait until his next visit!0 -
Hi Messies.
I tried that quiz too...apparently I am also one of those people who has set up my house so that it will nag me - but I`ve learned to ignore its nagging sometimes! I`ve just had a really lazy day today, resting on my laurels after my kitchen corner mini-blitz yesterday. I`ll be busy enough tomorrow and next day before I go AWOL for a bit.
YL - nice one on the new use of toy chest.
Re conservatories - we thought of adding a small one at the back of the house years ago and didn`t get round to it. I always used to wish we had, but now quite honestly I know it`d be another dumping ground (as would a utility room) if caravan of Doom & spare room of Doom are anything to go by!
Windows - cat snot on some windows. No dog snot anymore as poor old Daftie-dog can`t reach.
Today`s Progress -
Bins & recycling have finally been collected!
Fish for tonight, hopefully, if it defrosts in time.

Sounds like plenty of folks have been motivated for a "spring clean" even if spring hasn't quite sprung yet! Haven't done much demesying here this weekend - bit of a tidy up but that's about it. OH has gotten into the habit of hoovering/dusting the new living room because the dust made by the fire (and the wood we're burning) annoys him. I'm not going to complain!
Finally took the ply down to the boat yesterday so that counts as a bit of decluttering of the garage. It was still a bit windy but didn't get blown away thankfully. We took the boat down to the pub for lunch today which was lovely, if a bit cold.
I'm looking forward to the day when I can just put on jeans, a t-shirt and a jumper and go out. No need for leggings and vests and extra layers! I was grateful for the leggings under my jeans yesterday when I bent down and managed to rip a huge tear right across the back of my thigh! I've got some M&S vouchers from my credit card which were going to be used on clothes for work but might need some new jeans now. This is the 2nd pair to go this month. Maybe its about time I chucked the lot out and replaced it all. Just need to win the lottery first!0 -
Hi folks, well my intention to get something done over the Easter weekend was at least partially realised. Kitchen and bathroom floors are now swept and mopped and the bathroom has been scrubbed down too. Collected and disposed of a whole lot of paper that was just lying around (why did I still have a gas bill for 2008?) so that makes me feel the place is a lot less cluttered. After doing two lots of laundry in two days I have resolved never to let the laundry basket overflow again. Some dishes to do before going to bed. I find doing the washing up a real pain as once I think I'm done there is still a nasty greasy film on some things no matter how hard I've scrubbed them, so they need done again.
A dishwasher would be nice but it's an expense I cannot justify and I don't have space for even the smallest table top one anyway.
Good to hear of others' progress and that I'm not alone in my quest to organise my living space better.0 -
Am at the point of chucking EVERYTHING on the bed and deciding what stays and what goes.
Crazy I know cos I won't have any where to sleep but I am so depressed that I don't think I can feel any worse.
SO i am just going to do it!
SO THERE!!!!
