The best mince pie pastry ever?

Ive used this wonderful recipe for years with half trex and half butter and reduced sugar, it is absolutely divine! My daughter now uses it too. Thanks so much to researcher for her neighbours recipe.....bless the lady!

leaving it a bit late this year, but about to make a mega batch of this pastry again. Also half butter/half Trex and half the sugar, as always.

Remembered seeing this thread a couple of weeks ago and very glad I found it again when I needed some mince pie pastry this afternoon. Had all the ingredients in the house and have to say it was very easy to make. Rolled it out between two sheets of non stick baking paper so it was easy to handle. Result is very flaky and delicious . Plan to experiment with less sugar next time. Easy to adapt for vegans by replacing the egg with flax egg or a little non dairy milk.

used this recipe last year [with less sugar], it was a total hit...and they also lasted for ages in a container..

I made them without the sugar as I'm very calorie aware at the moment and they were still very good. The pastry was light just not so sweet.

Can i check what size egg is needed for these? ive forgotten lol
but always make this pastry and its best ever, family always compliment me on my sweet mince pies
but need a refresher on egg size please if anyones around

I've just looked and it was 13 years ago.......
