Thank you - I can't believe so many years have passed. Betty left us long ago, I am still amazed that the recipe uses self raising flour!!! I will admit I have cut back on the sugar and make my own mince meat - but every year we salute Betty and remember our neighbour with great affection. I love that her memory lives on and people get to try her special recipe year after year.

At the weekend ( or maybe the previous one )  in an article about mince pies in the Guardian newspaper,  someone referenced this site and mentioned this thread about Betty's lovely mince pie  pastry.  She is becoming a legend.

Just made my mince pies from this recipe yet again. Silent nod of thanks upwards towards Betty and her fabulous (and easy) recipe.
