reasercher, thank you very much for the recipe, I just made 2 doz and a doz jam tarts, The mince pies are still warm and the one I tried was so scrummy.
Definately the easiest pastry I've made.

Not sure if this has been answered already but I've used half the pastry and don't really need the rest at the moment.....can it be frozen uncooked?

Yes, it can be frozen - I've done it!
  • I have just made cheese straws using this recipe, just left out the sugar and added cheese. I brushed the tops with beaten egg and sprinkled finely grated cheese over them. Cooked at gas 4 for 19-20 mins.
They have been pronounced "yummy" by DD!

    Hi Researcher

Just wanted to say, before I forget, that I also tried your neighbours pastry and it was the best ever. I substituted Stork for the Trex and it worked out just as good. Yummy. At least I now know I have a good sweet pastry for mini apple pies now. Thank your friend most kindly for me.
I got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.

Sadly I have to update that both my lovely neighbours son and DIL have lost their fight with cancer and their suffering is behind them. To those of you who read this and have enjoyed her pastry I ask that whatever your beliefs, you send a prayer or a thought that she finds comfort now they are at peace.

So sorry to hear that. My thoughts are with the family and you all.

cancer is a word I can only say with gritted teeth. It doesn't deserve a capital letter so doesn't get one.

At least now the physical pain is gone.

    Thinking of you x
