You have done what you could.
Some blunders and Absurdities have crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can."

Have been to my local Asda today, near Middlesbrough, and I got some after reading this thread! Cost £1.08 for 500g - it was with the butters etc. It's in a 'box' rather than a butter 'wrap'.0 -
Has anyone tried the Deurrs 1881 mincemeat? It says it contains cherries, roasted hazelnuts, sherry and brandy.
I bought a jar from B & M for 89p but they are £1.49 for 2 at Sainsburys at the minute.
Sounds lovely - think someone in thread has mentioned this brand as being worth getting.
We have a local B & M so will have a look next time I'm there.:T0 -
arrr i think i was looking just for a wrap. ill take another look next time i go, thanks sweetserendipity! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0

Hello!
The OH has requested that I make pies with pastry as close to that of (for example) MrK's pies (or even the MrT version).
Is this the recipe that I have been searching for?!
I do hope so.
Please, if anyone can tell me if this is a close match - or knows of one that is - I'd be delighted to hear it!
Kindest,
MissB0 -
I don't know if this recipe is like Mr.K's or Mr.T's as I don't like Christmas mince pies. Or at least I didn't! However, I made some earlier in my remoska (thanks npsmama) and thought I better taste them. I really wish I hadn't!!! They are utterly moreish and I have already devoured 2 of the 7 I made. I halved the quantity (8oz flour etc.) and only cooked half the mixture so the other half is sitting in the fridge to use tomorrow (or more likely this evening at the rate I am eating them). The pastry is so so crumbly. I used the red fluted silicone muffin cases that were being sold in Lidl a few weeks ago and the pies slipped out beautifully. Thanks researcher.0

Thank you so much to the OP for this. My condolences and thoughts to the OP's friend. What a dreadful thing to happen to a family.
Please pass on our thanks and love.

Really pleased to see this recipe again.
I used it last year and it went down a treat with my family and friends.
I am really looking forward to making them again.
