I have just made some jam tarts using this pastry recipe - and I'm really pleased with the results, which are indeed 'melt in the mouth'. And my fussy DD and OH like them too!!! Result!!
Many thanks to the OP!0 -
I have just made this pastry using the sr flour and trex and its the BEST pastry I have evr made :j
Even If i do say so myselfMy pastry has been passable but this recipe is DEFINATELY a hit melts in your mouth with a fine crumbly texture
I have just made 2 doz mini quiches omitting the sugar and adding grated cheese to the mixture before adding the egg worked very well too
Many thanks to original poster :T0 -
I made mince pies with this recipe on Saturday. Just had to try one before freezing a batch for Christmas! Delicious:T . I managed to get them out with a palette knife - very gently of course - and none of them broke. I thought if I tried with the cooling rack and turning them upside down they stood more chance of breaking. Also, Trex is so easy to rub in.0

I haven't tried this pastry yet, but I will very soon. It sounds amazing. However, I have some questions:
1. If you only use half the pastry, will the rest keep in the fridge?
2. Has anyone tried making them in a remoska?
Last week I started speaking to a lady in a long queue at M&S. She had their luxury mincemeat in her trolley (buy one get one half price) and was saying how good it is. Anyone tried it? She also said that when she makes her pastry she always substitutes half her fat for philly cheese. Has anyone tried doing this?0 -
dont own a ramoska so cant help there i saved some in fridge and have used it today and seems to keep fine hth0

Just to say, I used this recipe with the Trex and my mince pies came out fab. I'm usually rubbish at making it from scratch and so have resorted to buying the 'jus roll' premade. But now I am a total convert. Hooray!
Thankyou so much for sharing it with us. :T0 -
My youngest Granddaughter and myself had a go yesterday at making the pastry for mince pies.
We normally use ready made frozen pastry but never again, these were wonderful. --She even awarded me a gold star for finding the recipe.
Many Thanks.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
Has anyone tried the Deurrs 1881 mincemeat? It says it contains cherries, roasted hazelnuts, sherry and brandy.
I bought a jar from B & M for 89p but they are £1.49 for 2 at Sainsburys at the minute.0 -
I am thinking of omitting the sugar, adding grated cheese and making cheese straws! Has anyone tried this yet?0
