I used the mince pie recipe and everyone loved them.
I am making some more for my son to take to work (he's a welder and his mates love home baked stuff).
If I left the sugar out would this recipe be alright to use for a quiche and also a meat and potato pie?

A friend on another forum asked me to find this thread for her - so I've bumped it to make it easier to find

Can you believe another year has passed?

This year might be tough economically - but there is no need to miss out on all the lovely goodies that can be made much more economically in the kitchen rather than bought from the stores.

    Happy baking everyone.

ARGH! Forgot to buy trex when I was in town today! Tomorrow is another day...

Slightly OT but what about the mincemeat...does anyone have a wonderful recipe (I'm not partial to Delia's)?

Thank you so much for posting this recipe. I made these yesterday and have already, between me and DH, eaten 1 dozen!!:j

On the last dozen I used a star-shaped cutter for the tops to make little mincemeat tarts that look so Christmassy. I have put them in the freezer in groups of 4 to make them last a little longer!

I can't get over the pastry, so crisp and light, like shortbread....mmm delicious! Will make the pastry, minus the sugar next week to make a corned beef pie, sooooo good!

Enough water to bind - by the sounds of it add a little more.
