Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 9 April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

Morning all - hope everyone will have a good weekend. I went to bed very early last night and slept like a log - woke up about 2am and took my jeans off (!) and went back to sleep! Am planning to spend most of today in the garden. Got OH to finish off the sleepers so today the littlies and I can spend all day in the garden.
Have to admit that the house REALLY suffers when we're outside though - currently looks like a bomb has hit! OH has got a few hours work today and tomorrow, so I thought that tomorrow I'd take the littlies and a picnic and visit my parents and we'll all go for a walk in the countryside. Gorgeous weather, seems a shame to waste it.
Weather forecast said last night that the weather would be changing next week, so I want to work really hard to get all my plants planted so they can take advantage of the rain if we get some. It will also keep the boys busy today too!
Hope everyone has a lovely day.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Morning everyone - another glorious day here. One of my work colleagues is getting married today and it's the perfect weather for it.

I eventually got home in time for Chinese food last night though the motorway north was very very slow for ages - turned out that everyone was slowing down to see a bad accident on the southbound side.

Got home to find a letter cancelling my recent and appealed parking ticket :j which I celebrated with a large glass of cold white wine! There was a lovely little bunch of freesias waiting for me too. :j Oh, and I sat in the car watching three of our local wild rabbits munching the grass in front of the houses. :j

Today is a little shopping right now, a large piece of long overdue work alongside Time Team and then, if there's time, a long walk. Tomorrow we are going to head out for the day but the price is sorting things out today.

I hope everyone is well and warm!

Good Morning Esmf, Gers and all to follow.

Sun is shining brightly outside and its the weekend :j

Taking DD to town this morning as she desperately needs some summer clothes. I shall treat myself to a Starbucks :D and some soap from Lush.

This afternoon I shall probably relax in the garden or maybe go for a walk along the beach. Think I overdid the hoovering yesterday and back is a little sore so nothing too energetic today :o

Not sure about dinner, it will either be peri-peri chicken, chicken with cheese and bacon or Choclares sticky chicken - need to see if I have all the ingredients in for that one.

Needless to say loads of washing will get done and line dried.

Off now for a surf .x

    Morning all!

More glorious sunshine, yippee! Taking dd3 and 3 of her chums to the shops today as her birthday treat, then she has another 7 arriving for food and a sleepover later. ds will do them a barbie and they can entertain themselves out in the garden!

Didn't get my raised veg beds, they were out of stock, sigh! But did use ds to help me get some rhubarb crowns and growbags, so will be able to do a spot of pottering later I hope, if not I shall do it tomorrow afternoon when I get home from work.

OS stuff will involve a quick whizz around ready for dd3 and her friends to create havoc no doubt! Will leave the big ones in charge of the rest of the jobs whilst I'm out! Going to take a book and a drink and snack and sit in the sunshine whilst dd3 and co shop themselves into the ground!

Hope everyone has a great weekend xx

    Good morning all
a bright and beautiful day here today, was planning a lie in, but the birds woke me up at 7.00.. have struggled to get out of bed everyday this week, but typically now I can catch up on sleep I am wide awake.

Went to a friends last night, wisely I drove, so nice and clear headed this morning, which makes a nice change!

Been awol all week, last weekend we went camping, only local, to air the tent etc, really lucky with the weather again. Then just a busy week at work. Have been "flying" all week and its so satisfying to know that come Friday, there is so very little to do indoors. Just going to have a quick tidy round, put the wm on, empty the dw, and the day is mine pretty much.

Would like to get some plants out today, and sort out my pots etc. my little seeds are all poking out now, another week or too and they'll be ready to come out and be re-potted.

DD is staying with a friend tonight, so we may just treat ourselves to dinner out... if not it's aldi pizza! have the urge to bake something sweet, and that is not an urge to ignore!

Hope you all enjoy a fab sunny saturday whatever you are doing.

    Good morning my fellow MSE's,

Another beautiful day here today, yesterday the mist lifted to reveal a lovely sunny day so got some more seeds out, did a herb basket and put some runner beans in pots. I haven't put anything in the ground cos i'm still hoping we'll get this house...... The sellers have said will we meet them halfway which means they come down 3000 and we need to find 3000 OH is dealing with it all now anyway cos I was getting a little stressed and tearful:o

OH and kids are off to dads club this morning :j So i'm going to have a quick tidy round get some cakes and bread on and prepare tea - although I haven't a clue what it's going to be yet cos there's not much in.

Hopefully a lazy family day today cos I had a rotten nights sleep, some sunshine, chocolate, family hugs and cups of tea should sort it :D

    Have a great one M x

    Morning esmf and everyone else

Not been here for a few days - combination of things being manic here & feeling so fed up about everything - but the sun's shining again, so I have to make an effort. The last couple of days I've bought & had fitted/delivered carpet, bed & shelf for DS's swap into little bedroom, washed paintwork in said room, hoovered/wiped down in other room, switched round beds, some of furniture/clothes etc. Really behind with work for stitching magazine, and other craft/making stuff, no washing up done for a day or so . Oh, also had "words" with personnel cos I didn't get paid this week - local government! They said my line manager knew about change of arrangements, but not one of them had told me (each thought the other had...), ergo I have no money until the end of the month! Hey, ho...

However...washing going on line in a minute, 2nd lot going in machine, washing up nearly done, off to do shopping, then going to work for 12, DH going to do lawns this afternoon (watch it rain now! :rotfl:), finish planting some edible things....then when littlies in bed going to stitch/watch CSI with a LARGE glass of wine!! :D

I WILL feel better when I've had a bit more sun - honest! - sorry for the moan! :D Have a good day, see you later, hugs & kisses, congrats/commiserations for whatever I've missed the last few days.

    A xo

Morning everyone - looks like it's going to be bright, warm and sunny again. The sofa covers are outside on the spinner, the WM is on,garden tiger is fed and I'm finishing off the rearrangment of downstairs- the living room is ok now, bar a bit of clutter.
I need to go through the freezer to pull something out for tea tonight - probably some chicken, before we go into town and drop off the charity shop stuff, but DH won't be up for at least a couple of hours.
    Have a good day.

    Good morning Peeps,
It is a beautiful morning here.
How lovely for it to be wonderful weather for the weekend :)
We are supposed to be having Indian food today. DS and family (4) are coming to visit. We will have DD1 and family(5) over here as usual and we have DD2 at home as well. So will cook chicken tikka and plain boiled rice, will take Lamb rogan and Saag aloo out of the freezer and will make blackeyed beans and mushrooms. Will top this up with some take-away dishes from the local Indian (naans & cheese naans, etc.) Take-away for 12 would break the bank and anyway the children prefer hm chicken tikka - it's one of their favourite meals.
However, I am feeling yeuch. I've got stomach cramps, etc. So I'm hoping I'm at least up for cooking even if I can't eat:(
Anyhoo, Happy Saturday with hugs to everyone who needs or wants.
    Cheers m'dears, Silver x

    morning all!

weekend off for me:j slept in last night at work but luckily it was quiet.:T the teenagers are still sleeping off their pub crawl last night, DH is at work. We're looking forward to The National later - got my selection down to half a dozen:D but my main choice is Backstage - because it was my late friend Lesley's favourite Gene Pitney song and I've got good memories of her singing it - badly out of tune:D

Have had a tidy up, will mop the floors later, WM is on. Veggie curry for tea. Hope to finish the lawn mowing when the grass has dried a bit.

My sister waved to me on her way past this morning as I was getting home from work - they are on their way to Weston Supermare for a week with their touring caravan, lucky things.

Hope everyone has a great weekennd x x

    Morning All,

The day looks as if it will be lovely weather, its foggy just now but has a certain promise to it. Was going to DS2's match but OH and I had a massive argument about nothing and I didn't fancy being ignored all morning, so I have stayed home. Will go up in a wee while and stand on my own like nobby no-mates. Bloody man really annoyed me, and had the cheek to turn it around on me. He wakened in such a good mood too, we were having a lovely morning

I am looking a bit sunblushed this morning, and feeling tired after my trek around the zoo yesterday. It is built into a steep hill, and the walking was arduous at times, especially as DS2 goes at 90miles an hour :) Plan for later is I don't know, depends if I want to look at or avoid Mr Grumpy :o Need to do some housework and change the beds, but I think I'll leave them until he's at work tomorrow. I need to get some more vacuum bags for the winter duvets, I seem to have burst the ones I have, so will get that done, and get OH to put u the Whirly for me.

Have good days everyone, hugs to those of you feeling under the weather
