gingin - I know there is nothing anyone can say at times like these but just to let you know I and many others are thinking of you and your family at this very difficult time. You laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same0

DH and DD have gone to visit Manchester uni while I stay home for DD (12) to get home from school.
Spent the time wrapping up Christmas pressies.
There are 2 or 3 things still to arrive by post, two home made hampers for elderly relatives and three fluffy scarves still to knit.
Just popping out to buy three gift bags before DD gets home.
Hugs to everyone - especially gingin."This site is addictive!"

. I've had a little cry this morning and feel a bit better. Neighbour came back from holiday with some chocolate for the children so I forced
myself to eat some of that. I have a lovely little family to look after me and my grandad has had a good life so we have that to be thankful for.
BargainRZL, I think you were off to your Grandma's funeral today, I hope that goes okay for you.
Lucie, I love your avatar, my SIL works in the Opera House behind you and I hope to be living on the north shore soon!0 -
pennineman wrote:Then take car to dealer to fix fault with reversing lights. It needed new switch. But found the service, as usual, brilliant. I took the car in at 8:45 a.m.; was received by gorgeous receptionist . . . mmmmmm . . . . who made me cup of decaff coffee and sat me down in front of wall-mounted plasma screen TV; then service manager came out and said hello as did the garage boss man himself.
The car was ready (and washed) by 9:20 a.m., and done under warranty so no cost, so I wished everyone an early Merry Christmas and drove off to spend some money in the local M&S - all food items.

I work for a car dealer ship, and make calls to customers (satisfaction) surveys, aswell as booking people in for service & mot's. can I call you and pretend your'e one of our customers? lol
Afternoon all - hope we are well
GinGin - Im so sorry for the sad news, I remember it too well, being at the hopstial with granddad and then at the nursing home with my Grandma when they passed away. I miss them dearly. My heart goes out to you all. Take the trip if your mum will still have the kids - it will do you good. Perhaps you can buy something nice over there in to remind you of your grandad. Ive still got my apple tree in the garden which my grandad planted when I was little. Im living in my grandparents old house, which holds special and fun memories for me. So im close to them all the time.
Anyway - what a day Ive had - Im really pst off and fed up with the calls Ive had to make, and the other girl sat on her jacksy looking for car insurance on the internet. She was the one who passed her test y-day, and as much as we're all delighted for her, I thought she was taking the michael today. (her hubby is buying her a new car) I had done nearly 2 hrs of work, before she finally made her first call. Then she was nipping back to insurance screens inbetween calls. It would be just my luck - that If I sat there and joined her - I would be told off. As still the new kid at work, I can only grit my teeth and get on with it, If I'd have been there longer, I would have said summit.
Got home, emptied DW, got to load WM up in a bit. Uniforms ironed for work/school 2mr. Not even thought about dinner yet!
Going to put my feet up for 20mins now before the school run
Have a lovely evening all

Hi everyone,
Stressful day yesterday. Went with DD to Barts for the wire ablation of her cervix. Hopefully they got all the rogue cells, the operator said it was only a small patch and she won't have any more problems. She said the worst was the injection:eek: which I can imagine. When I told DH he said "Why did she need an injection" - I can't imagine him having a procedure on his bits without full anasthetic and told him so.
Then spoke to DS who said that his GF has got to have a dodgy mole tested. Hopefully it will be ok, she is only 20.
I shall be glad when this year is over we have had so many health scares (and a death) amongst family and friends I want to see the back of it.
Going to go to Toys R us after w**k to try and get the BOpit game for Christmas day. I think it can be a presie for DS he hasn't given me a clue what he wants. DD on the other hand wants a slow cooker and some measuring scales:D . She is really getting into batch cooking. Her BF loves it, he's never been out with anyone who cooks.0 -
snoozer
If you are getting DD a slow cooker then how about printing some of the slow cooker recipes on here and putting them in a nice folder for her.
Much cheaper than posh cookbooks and "tried and tested!""This site is addictive!"
