    Morning all

Had a stomping OS evening yesterday, got loads done and cooked 2 meals (last night had potato & leek soup with lovely bread and I've cooked a risotto for tonight). Then I managed to sort out all of the filing for OH, it had been driving me a bit batty for a while so I thought I'd spend an hour sorting it out feel all :A now!

In work until later tonight, so I'll pick daughter up from Karate and get home just before 5. Not much OS planned for tonight though, I think I may have a night off :)

We are planning to make scones tonight after tea, didn't get around to it yesterday because DD had homework and I'd been cooking for about 2 hours so I couldn't be bothered :o

:grouphugs: to those that would like one or need one! Have a good day.

    Mel

Hi aussielass, I agree with Pink, the avvie is fab, makes me feel very festive indeed. We like Aubergene's (fried or grilled first) and then layered with mozarella and tomato sauce (a bit like a lasagne) and ham/ parma ham/ proscuitto is nice as well layered inbetween and then baked in the oven, served with green salad and crusty bread it makes a really yum meal. 99c is brilliant, I hope I can get some bargains like that when I am over there (although I fear in Sydney perhaps not!).

Oh has been fab this morning, got the kids up, made them breakfast and took ds to school! I am going to make my first attempt at quiche this morning as a surprise for him for lunch. I am really enjoying having him at home.

I have a mix of emotions at the mo. My grandad is in hospital, we have been told this is it. He is on 24 hour visiting rights and my parents have already had the call from the hospital in the middle of the night to say come immediately as this was "it" (which it wasn't). He has heart problems and now has septacemia (sp). My Grandma has been with him for 72 years since she was 14 and is very upset as my dad had to tell her last night that he won't ever be coming home. My other grandad died 4 months ago.

Oh and I are off to New York next week after my parents offered to look after the kids for a week 6 months ago, it is all booked, paid for and non-transferrable and I can't believe how bad our timing is going to be. Mum has absolutely insisted we go but they are so busy looking after everyone else, I feel awful.

On a positive note a few weeks ago we went to a 100th birthday party for a great aunt, my grandad was upset because he had to stay at home, so spontaneously I decided to drive dd to their house from the party to cheer him up. We had to drive from Cambridgeshire to Hertfordshire to Bedfordshire back to Cambridgeshire, I never normally do or have time to do that sort of thing but something made me really strongly feel the need to do it and as it turns out that will be the last time I will probably see him. Although he was ill it was a really positive trip as dd was playing by his feet and we were all relaxed and chatting and I feel very at peace for that reason. I swear I was "meant" to do that trip.

    Waffling on now:o .

To all the pregnant ladies (Joannasmum and Valentinex) I hope you start to feel better soon. It is really lovely (might not be for you!) to read about how it is going.

Have a good and positive day everyone :)

G'day Old stylers! Yes, I've made it back from Oz in one piece, had a fantastic time & didn't want to come home. The best bit is NO CREDIT CARD BILLS! The place is so cheap you wouldn't believe it. In fact I'm so impressed with my budgetting, we have exactly the right amount leftover (give or take £30) to pay for our next holiday in March! Am I good or what? AussieLass, don't you ever moan about how much things cost over there (;)). Petrol is about 40p a litre and a slap-up no expense spared dinner at the Conrad Treasury restaurant in Brisbane cost about the same price as pizza hut over here! The new avatar is us a'top the harbour bridge in Sydney. Scary, but fab!
Anyway, back to earth with a bump. Hope you're all well & happy, hugs to gingin.

Does anybody have any nice recipes for eggplant? I think you call them aubergines. I've never bought them before and they were reduced. 2 meduim size ones for 99c. I'd want to make them into a main meal.

Not a recipe so much as a jumble of odds and sods but it does taste good!

I cut the aubergine into chunks (skin and all) about 2cm square. I also cut up any veg I have hanging around, last time I used onions, peppers, carrots, celery, mushrooms. Chuck it all in the SC with a tin or 2 of chopped toms, a tsp or so of veg stock powder, any other spices you like (corriander, cumin, cayeene etc) and some cooked chickpeas and leave it on low for the day.

Its yummy! I like mine quite spicy so I use around a tsp and a half of each spice, even DH ate it.

Wow glad you had a good time Lucie :) I've never fancied Australia personally, too many critters *shudders* :D but my brother's been and he loved it, the flight kinda puts me off a bit too, oh and the money to pay for it :D
