Sorry Joeblack, I don't know about this sort of letter.

You may be as well posting a new thread asking for help on letters making offer of token payment.

    Hope this helps.

    Hiya
If you have the original HP agreement you could check to see how much has to be paid before you can hand it back.
It can sometimes be a third & you can hand car back.

Thanks for that, a new thread might be the answer!
I will look into the paperwork for the HP. Thanks again, Debs x
  • Is there anything you can do about the house leased to the housing association? You seem to be subsidising them / the tenants by £100 a month.

I know, you're right, but they put a rent renewal every 3 years into the lease, and then the interest rates went up twice! I am including the unsecured to the Lender in my £1 per month payments tho, which means that I am making £58 per month towards it all as this is the balance after the mortgage part is paid. Am going to get a valuation on the house I think, so that I can see if selling it is a viable option. Debs.

Have come up with my own plan, it's that or disappear I think. Keep all household bills up to date, pay the mortgage on the house, pay £1 per month to all creditors for the foreseeable future, and make an offer to the HP co for the car of £84 per month until my circs improve. Could I please ask for someone to give their opinion on this?

Hi JB have a look at the National Debtline site (there is a link at the top of the page) There are some really good template letters that you could use when asking your creditors to accept reduced, or token, payments.
Stick with PAYPLAN, or CCCS and see what advice they can give you.
    And, please, stick with us.
    Good luck.

Is your lender Northern Rock? Just that I remember reading a thread previously where someone said that Payplan don't deal with them. If it is - why don't you try CCCS - they do deal with Northern Rock - I know because I'm on a DMP with CCCS and NR are one of my creditors.

You may still have a problem if you don't have enough money left at the end of the month to enter into a DMP. I know that it is really tough but there seem to be 2 major factors limiting your money situation - the lease with the housing association and the problems with your daughters father.

Have you sought legal advice re both issues? I believe that some legal practices may offer free or low cost initial legal advice. Other than that, perhaps contact CAB for some advice. I can appreciate why you are reluctant to deal with your ex - but why should you go through this hell because of him. At the end of the day his daughter will also be suffering because of the hell you are going through. Why not even see if you can come to some form of agreement re sharing the benefits to reflect the shared custody?
