Hello
I have just recorded onto my hard drive a programm shown on the tv it is in mpeg video format and is 1.97 GB it lasts an hour...now i don't understand the different formats at all, and was wondering if a straight rip on to a dvd+R via my computer dvd-rewriter would play in a normal dvd player or do I have to convert the file to a different format...if so which format and how do I go about it
Thanks in advance

I really don't know what to do :-(
I think i have to convert the mpeg file to 1, bup / 2, vob / 3, ifo but which one will work and will these be able to work on a DVD+R ????:A0 -
Right it looks like i need a converter type software to convert mpeg files to some kind of dvd file but i can't find any that will give me a workable version for free and I don't want to pay for something that might not be what i need ... what software do i need please?
Darn, just realised the time no wonder i'm talking to myself.... i've been trying to figure this out for hours
night all:A0 -
Hello me again
I have kinda figured it out but now I can't find a free download of a converter all the 6 versions i have tried so far will only rip between 5-30mins of programm on the free trials or they have a massive logo/watermark across the whole picture
Are there any downloads out there that will allow me to convert 1 hour of mpeg to dvd format for free ????
I have a sony DVD RW DW-Q31A - dvd burner drive
I have nero and power producer software
I have loads of blank DVD+R
Please Please Help:A0 -
Not something I've ever tried, but this:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/CD-DVD-Rip-Other-Tools/DVDBuilder.shtml
seems to be offering what you are looking for.
Edit: Just looked a bit further at this and it's not freeware as claimed, but has a 15 day time limit before you need to pay. It's not clear if it has full functionality in the trial period, but it might be worth a try.Charlie0 -
The answer is that it does not need converting.0

if your dvd player supports VCD, which most do, then all you need to do is tell your dvd burning software that you want to create a VCD and put your mpg on itEver stop to think and forget to start again?0

Why doesn't it need converting how can I burn it on to DVD without converting it?????? my DVD burner and Discs keep saying they do not recognise mpeg files
I'm getting extreamly fustrated with this now I have tried 9 different so called free downloads but they all ask for between $30-$40 to convert the file for me:A0 -
Not sure, but suspect not.
In that case have a look at http://www.trustfm.net/divx/SoftwareAvi2Dvd.html but it will take a while to run..Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0
