vodafone restricted service

(wall o text warning)

ok first off whilst trying to contact vodafone in regards to my bill being 3 days overdue and my service restricted yes i know restricted just 3 days over due a joke aint it + i have 3 lines not just 1 i have been a loyal customer and rarely pay late even tmobile just tells you to pay by your next bill date why did i leave them

well i called 191 and when through the options to talk to a customer service adviser i was the greeted with the message quote = service to this number is restricted please contact your customer care agent

well thats what i was trying to do then the call gets disconnected

what i want to know is can vodafone LEGALLY restrict my services to the extent that i cant even call customer service from my handset where would i stand if i wished to cancel because i cant contact them from my handset to speak to there customer service team,

so i cant even arrange payment of the overdue bill in a nut shell i cant even use 191 to talk to any one in customer service is this even allowed in a mobile phone contract i even found that most of the features of my account online were restricted

and the icing on the cake they were charging me for the delivery of the new handset for the new line i ordered last month they then said i agreed to pay delivery when i asked for proof of me agreeing the agent could not provide it

i got service restored as i reminded them that i arranged to pay at a later date this month aka tomorrow 9/04/11 thank god i have a land line or i would be screwed metaphorically

I understand that they can restrict my service if i do not pay onetime but blocking access to customer service and parts of the online account thats surely not allowed is it

thanks for any responses i will check back regularly

There's nothing unusual in what they've done, after all you've broken the agreement by not paying on time (and you also say it's not the first time). I think they are quiet generous to reconnect you on the promise of a future payment.

when i need to pay late i always inform them but blocking access to talk to customer service from 191 come on how is that just, blocking a customer from calling customer care ( i dont like using automated payment systems too many bad experiences with them )
  • You asked if they can legally block the service. Yes they can.

You didn't pay = you don't get a service, any service.

They don't block any access. They block the free access. Do all CS have free access numbers?

You are very generous. If you owed me, I wouldn't like to be just informed that you couldn't pay.

I can't think of any "Law" that says they can't block access to customer services through a restricted account :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

If they restrict outgoing calls then I would imagine it's a blanket restriction across the board.

The only service that would be suspect would be calls to emergency services but they can't restrict those ;)
It's not just about the money

well tmobile never blocked calls to there CS and they never suspended my service they always told me to pay at the latest 1 ay before my next bill was generated usualy the end of the month

how can vodafone justify disabling customer access to there CS team for a bill that is 3 days over due 2 weeks i would understand but even the fact that i arranged to pay at a later date and they still do it is ridiculous as i said it will be paid in full tomorrow 09/04/11 even virgin media usually terrible cs have never restricted my service when i forgot about the bill when i moved house

Also, there are 5 other ways to pay your bill besides calling 191.
    These 5 include
Pay online - to pay online you'll need to log in to My account. Then select Make one off payments by card and follow the on-screen instructions.
As I see you don't have any problems with the Internet access.

It doesn't just happen abroad - you might even be standing on the white cliffs of dover and connect to an overseas network.
