Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 8th April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well
Morning all,
Another bright beautiful day here :j, I am off to work, but finish at lunch time so not too bad.
DD has an inset day today, but had to go in for drama practice, thery are then going for an all you can eat chinese for a friends birthday, and then to a sleepover, so a quiet night here.
Need to pop to Lidl later on, for washing liquid and conditioner, and kitchen roll, will do that on the way home.
Meatballs for dinner with spaghetti. Will do a wash when I get in, and shove it on the line.
Need to swish and swipe before work, ok better get on.
Have good days all xx

Morning Redruby and everyone to follow.
DS keeps waking in the night, crying and upset because of the dark. Was twice last night and ended up in our bed. DD then woke at 5.30am. Jeez just when I think we're doing OK sleepwise is all goes tits up. We've been playing swap the bed nearly every night this week
So shall be surviving on coffee I think today. Back is still uncomfortable which is p!ssing me off. Not a happy bunny really at the moment
No sure what's for tea. No interesting plans today, hope the weather is nice today, was a bit too cloudy yesterday.
Hugs and spoons all round. Have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Good morning RR, Bitsy and everyone,
Gloriious sunshine here at the moment
Got to be off to work in a mo. Showered and just putting myself outside a cuppa
Dinner tonight will be fishcakes that I didn't pre-prepare yesterday. Must get the fish out of the freezer before I go out!
Shall put WM on in a minute.
How exciting is my life?
Happy Friday peeps, hugs for those who need or want.

Morning, lurker here.
I don't like the dark either. Try leaving the curtains open a bit, leaving the door partially open, putting glo stickers on wall, give DS a torch to keep by bed, plug a nightlight in room or on landing, use a battery operated tea light.
At my age I just make sure the curtains aren't completely closed. Though there is a glo star stuck on the light switch....
Have a good day everybody.0 -
morning all
Bitsy sorry to hear of your disturbed nights, it awful isnt it , make sure that coffee is strong
looks like its going to be a nice day , bedding to wash this morning and grass to cut
i have my seedlings to pot on and put out in my little plastic green house
fell out with DH last night and i'm still grumpy with him this morning , DD2 has overslept and is trying to wangle a day off school - no chance so the atmosphere is lovely here

Good Morning All
(((Bitsy))) no sleep and backache  hope the day improves for you!
Lovely sunshine here again :j OH is at work so have the house to myself for the first time in ages.
Plan to do some office work this morning then pottering this afternoon. Cleared the ironing pile yesterday so just have to iron what dried yesterday. Last day of school for the kids then they have nearly 3 weeks off - hope the weather stays like this.
Something with chicken for dinner probably something very easy
Have a great day all.x0 -
Good morning, everyone.
Redruby - enjoy your quiet evening!
Bitsy Beans - I remember nights like that when my two were still little. I hope that he settles down soon, for all your sakes; there's nothing worse than disturbed sleep, is there?
It's a beautiful start to the day again here. We reached 28 degrees yesterday which I think is perfect. I don't want it any hotter because then it gets a bit draining. Still, compared to the last two Aprils since we've been here, we are enjoying a proper spring!
I spent yesterday cleaning (yawn) and today I need to go food shopping. I won't have to cook on Sunday because we've been invited to a birthday barbecue; the weather should be good for that, too.
Our local Lidl has been closed for about three months while it's been revamped, so I might have a mooch round there today. Apparently, it's the only place here that sells Cheddar cheese, which I really miss. The French are famous for their cheese but I haven't found any as tasty as good old strong Cheddar (and all their cheeses make the fridge smell, which I really hate!), so I really hope I can get some. The nearest I've found as a substitute is Edam, but it's still not Cheddar!
Dinner tonight will be salad with cold meat and left-over pork pie and, maybe, some chips.
Well, DH has just put the kettle back on so I'm off for another cuppa.
I hope you all have a great day.

Morning everyone - lovely sunny day here and I'm about to head to the hell that is the M1 south!
New job is brilliant and my feet haven't touched the ground :j which is much better than being bored at work.
No breakfast this morning, had a cup of creamy coffee and will have something when I reach Nottingham. If I'm home in good time it'll be Chinese takeaway Friday again, if not then I have no idea!!
The cherry and apple trees are bursting into blossom and it's so lovely, the pink and white blossoms are such a wonderful sight. Sometimes I think autumn is my favourite season and other times it's spring.
I discovered last night that I didn't have my debit card and have decided that I've left it in the machine at the supermarket the other day. Nothing has been spent on it and it's now cancelled, just a real pain. Bank will get a new card to me by Tuesday. Must be an age thing!
I hope that everyone as a blooming great day too.0 -
A good morning to all and a misty/foggy day here! Slept in here, only by half an hour but it's still thrown me a bit.
Well really ought to update sig as we were supposed to be exchanging contracts on our first house today but got a phone call from the mortgage company last night to tell us house has been revalued and is £6000 LESS than originally valued. This means our mortgage company won't pay out at the higher figure so it means either the sellers drop their price by £6000 or we have to find the money to make up the shortfall.
OH went to see them last night and they're not happy, they like us are all packed up and ready to go cos we were completing next Friday........
So, I guess we'll just wait and see
Good day to all

Morning all
Welcome kerleytops
Bitsy ((((((Hugs))))))
Feeling carp had 16 injections in my mouth including 3 in the roof of the mouth (and they bloody hurt) because apart from taking out the tooth he cleaned all my gums up which would be agony if I didn't have the injections. Mind you they did make me cry.
I came home and DH put me to bed and I slept for 16 hours which is not like me.
I can rinse with salt water from 3pm today but I am on mush for 10 days (if I don't lose a bit of weight due to that I will scream.) Face is swollen and it feels like I have done a couple of rounds with David Haye, not that I wouldn't mind IYKWIM girls

DS did his own lunch box last night and DD cooked for everyone who was eating.
So DH has ordered me to take it easy today (not a chance, too much to catch up on but I won't go mad ) and we are only doing a small shop so should be home by 11 am. So I am off to do my list.
I have put another load of washing in so that I can get it on the line early.
If I time it right DH will hang it out for me when he gets home from his shift.:D
Fuming cos I have just found at that the L&D has put it's parking up to £4 from £2.50 that is a 40% rise  and you still pay if you have a blue badge  wouldn't mind if it was a good hospital. I think we will emigrate to Scotland.
Well best get my bum in gear
Have good days everyone xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Morning All,
Well, we're up, dressed and ready to go to the zoo, I have some sausage rolls in the oven, and that's about all I have left to do, so I will have a quick swish and swipe before we leave around 10am.
Bitsy, sorry your sleep is being messed about still, DS1 is still a bit afraid of the dark, and refuses to go upstairs in the house on his own
If he's having a shower, he leaves the bathroom door open and one or other of us has to be upstairs or else he refuses. He has lots of those little glow in the dark stars and moons over his bed and they seem to really help, and I leave the landing light on until he's asleep. Funny thing is, I always made sure they slept in perfect darkness when they were little too.
Miecherox, sorry to hear about the mortgage what a complete pain for you - how can they suddenly just reevaluate like that, is it a ploy to get you to take out a loan of some sort?
Have a lovely day everyone, I shall be filling FB with pics of our day at the zoo tonight
Hugs, spoons and hi fives all round!
