And yeah we did kinda go off on a bit of a tangent there lol.

This place always makes for an interesting read ;)

Ok, reconsideration formally lodged with the DWP on everyone's advice. Was asked what part of the decision I disagreed with, the answer was... er... everything! So went through it all with the woman bit by bit and stated my reasons. Now we have to wait "8-12 weeks" for it to be looked at again before I know the result, I fear I may be hobbling off to tribunal but we can but try.

    Thanks guys :)

There's a fair chance it won't take as long as that.

Good luck though I hope they get their act together.

    Good luck Supernatural :)

I had to go through a reconsideration a few years back when the GP said that I had no mobility issues and, in fact, I couldn't (and still can't) walk the length of myself. I phoned the helpline up and said that I'd have preferred they sent their own Doctor out as my GP had no idea about how my illnesses affected me as he saw me from the time I walked through his consulting room door and out again - he had no idea how I got to the surgery (by car - and it was only about 50 metres away). I was advised to put it all in writing and a few weeks later, they agreed with what I had said and it was reinstated.

I hope you similarly have no problems :)

I think you'll find if you look at skitzophrenia in children you will see she fits a good 80% of the symptoms

Yes, I did say "now knowledge", which I meant "no knowledge". I am not doubting the OP, but asking why DLA is more important that getting her help.

Who said dla was more important than getting her help? i'm doing all i can to get her help and dla is part of that because if she's entitled to that she will get help with travel to school so i know shes safe. She is on referral to camhs and im regular contact with doctor and school and shes on waiting list for counselling, not much more I can do at present till her camhs appt comes through.

teabag dont let the others on here put you of your claim for dla the whole point of dla is to claim it if you think you are entilted to it let the dla tell you you cant get it :)

welcome to the world of sitgma of the mentally ill how people can think that a child that is doing all that is naughty is unbelivable i know 1st hand how hard it can be to have a child with these problems and if their child had these issuse they wouldnt be so keen to put it down to bad behaviour it would make them cry to hear their child talking to someone who wasnt or to see them cause harm to them self by not seeing danger

i to came from a strong history of mental health in my family my mum aunt brothers are all fellow suffers but i would not be with out them for the world they are the bravest people i know doing the best they can to get on with there lifes despite the illness they suffer my mum brought me up as a single parent( my dad died 7 days before my 2nd birthday )and my mum brought me up well beter than some of the sane mothers in our street so dont worry about your dd with the right meds she can lead a good life and as for a diagonses camh dont like giving them strightaway as many symptom of mental health sound as other conditions so they like to take there time and get it right so you are right to put in your claim now rather than wait good luck with it all

to the op my husband asked to get his dla reconsdered and after 5 weeks they awarded him hrm so i to would recomend to do that hope you get it :D
i cant slow down i wont be waiting for you i cant stop now because im dancing

supernatural hubby has the same as you but a lot more serious illnesses as well and gets dla deffo appeal nuropathy is horrible. teabag29 my daughter had many issues growing up leading her to take an overdose at 15 of co proxamol getting through that then self harming was a problem all starting of when she was about 2 .we have had help from cams and she now remains at present a "normal" adult holding down a decent job as a pa.as for claiming dla we never dreamnt of it hoping she would grow out of it and the reason being was the money would not have helped.

Yeah, it's hell on earth when the pains and burning really kick in and you can't walk. My left hand is completely numb today... but apparently I can cook ok, what a joke, I wouldn't even know if I chopped my finger off let alone hold a pan.

I'm hoping a different decision maker will have more sense than the last muppet. Hard to stay positive with all this to contend with as well as your illness, but trying to hang on in there :)

Thats where we differ because dla would really help in this case. My main priority is to make sure she gets to school and back safely which is causing massive probs at the minute. There is a disability bus that runs outside my house but she would only be entitled to this if she were claiming dla, so thats the first thing. Secondly dla would help with all the extra costs i have realted to dd condition (i.e. all the things she breaks due to her behaviour, urinating everywhere so things also get damaged that way), thirdly life can be very stressful coping with dd and it with no immediate family support it would be good to get some respite care sometimes. Furthermore due to ridiculous waiting lists dla could also be used to get dd into private counselling. These are just a few examples of how dla could help.
