Mobiles.co.uk - Confused claiming cashback?
Hi everyone,
I hope you can help me.
I'm trying to get my head around claiming cashback from my mobiles.co.uk deal.
I started my contract in October 2010 and it says to send the bill for April on their website table here:

So does that mean I send the bill that I receive from Orange dated April but this would obviously be for the previous months calls and texts etc?
I know that sounds silly but I just wanted to be crystal clear so I get the cashback.
Hope you can help guys and girls.
Thanks

You won't be able to post a link as mobils.co.uk links are banned on here

What you should do is read this guide by MJ for cashback ..you need to be on your toes with this bunch of cowboys

Bill dated April.0

I am in the same position as you, as I bought a contract from them in October with Orange. I have emailed my April bill to them, which they acknowledged receipt of same day. They emailed me next day saying "Cashback Claim - Bill Received & Booked-In", which I hope means that it is in their system now.
Mobilejunkie, with your experience with Mobiles.co.uk, does "booked in" mean they have accepted the bill and approved the cash-back claim or just that it is their system and still needs to be watched closely to ensure it is processed and claimed? Thanks for your guides, they have helped a great deal. I keep copies and back-ups of all correspondence now, just in case!0 -
Hi,
@ pmday2013,
If your total cashback is £100 or more, and you are on a 24 month contract, the first bill you need to send us is your bill dated April. So April will appear at the top of your bill but the call charges (If your bill is itemised) will most likely show dates across March and April. We hope this makes it clearer for you.
@djl208
The Received and Booked-in email simply means that we have received your bill and will be processing it over the next 10 working days. Unfortunately it does not mean we have authorised the payment yet. The cash back team are currently working within the 10 working day time scale but if you'd like to e-mail your order number to facebook@mobiles.co.uk we can make sure everything is ok with the payment for you.

Thanks. Glad I've helped you.
Mobiles.co.uk have a history of not meaning what they say. "Booked in" is the latest confusion. You should have an email within a couple of weeks at most confirming approval and "cheque raised". It won't have been, of course - merely passed to cpw for issuing and sending. If the confirmation of acceptance doesn't arrive then email them. You do have confirmation of the receipt of claim at this stage but if you used their on-line system (which doesn't always work properly) you don't have proof of what you sent. Usually there isn't a problem, but given cpw dealerships' track records (blowing hot and cold) you are right to take no chances.0 -
Well credit where credit is due, thanks to Mobiles rep, I have now received confirmation that claim has been processed and cheque is being raised (up to 28 days to process). Very pleased as this is my first claim, and the process has taken 4 days. Submitted bill on Monday and got confirmation yesterday. I hope all the other claims run as smoothly.
I have a new claim for another contract due next month with e2save, I hope they prove to be as efficient.0 -
Glad you have made it thus far djl208. Any research on here will point to the need to continue to be careful/cautious and to be prepared to stand your ground in case of need...
I hope you don't mind my asking but since you had a contract in place prior to the VAT rise (assuming you are getting some sort of line rental rebate) it would be interesting to know if you getting a rebate based on 20% VAT. Fully accept that we are talking about small amounts here. Over the lifetime of the contract it will amount to a few pounds, which are better in your pocket than theirs (assuming they base the rebate on 17.5% VAT).
cheers

I can confirm that they are totally ignoring the VAT increase issue. Every other dealer I am using (including another cpw site) have paid it but this lot are refusing to. That's despite automatically reducing the cashback cheques on existing contracts when VAT was reduced for a year a while back... They are absolute hypocrites but they will pay a price with me...0
