I would wait until you get your dog home and wait for the personality to come out before deciding on a name.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670

Actually Toto isnt a bad name for a poodle. I seem to remember my first french reader had a kid called Toto. (Pronounced Toetoe)0

I think something that sounds funny when you say it - so old blokes names, like Bert or Terry, or maybe Jimmy...
He will have black fuzzy hair/fur so maybe you should call him "Huggy Bear" or 118.;)
it will end up having a nickname anyway - our cat is Smudge, but ends up getting called Smugga wugga.... or is it just us that gives everyone "pet names"Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Sigh - my granddad's, brother's and father's names respectively.
Worked with someone who called her cat Colin.
And BIL called his cat Eric. (Clapton, apparently - but I always reckoned it was as in Idle)is it just us that gives everyone "pet names"
Nope - we have Meep, Oggbot and 'get out from under my feet, you stupid fluffy muppet' here.
Mind you, I want some form of mutt with a black coat rather like a labradoodle that I can name Elwood.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Thank you all for the suggestions. Still no further on and I'm thinking we will see when he gets here. My first ever dog as a child was a Toby. We also had a springer Spaniel called Humphrey as he used to drink loads of milk. (giving my age away there as the Humphrey advert was the one with all the red and white stripy straws!) A Min Poodle called Benji (after the dog in the film) and another one called Shadow because he used to chase shadows!
Oh and we did have a cat called Scruff and another one called Cat - the receptionist at the vets was very confused when we told her that one!!
Some of the suggestions have really made me laugh! Only a few days to go now and we are all very excited. On the subject of daft names, when I was looking for mutt there was a bruiser of a male bull terrier in the rescue place that some idiot had named Tinkerbell. He was hastily changed to Harry prior to re-adoption.
You can always play around with a few names when he comes - bet you can't wait. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

My dog is a mutt called Poppy as while on the way home from collecting her we passed the remembrance ceromony in town. My first dog was a white toy poodle when I was 5 and I called it Sooty as in sooty and sweep. Also had 2 shelties called Whiskey and Rebel. The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0

:rotfl:
Our Annie gets called Moo, Boom, Boomer, and Scarf (she likes to sit on my shoulders - she is NOT a small dog :rotfl:) and our Tik-Tok gets called Tickles,Tix, Tixy and Snufflebum
Tix we (re)named after we got him as it just fitted and Annie was named after we saw her at the dogs home - they both suit their name so I would definately recommend waiting until you see their personalities come out0
