Help! Struggling to name our puppy!

You could get inspiration from names of pop stars, soap characters, characters in children's books or telly programmes.
Just don't do what my parents did and call the puppy "Pup" forever as they couldn't think of a name... I quite like Jack as in Jack Duckworth or Jack who was a character in Emmerdale.
Another way to get the brainwaves going is to think of all the names you can think of starting with A, then the ones starting with B...and work your way along until you get a shortlist...well, it might be a long list, but it's a starting point.0 -
One of my aunts had the sweetest toy poodle called Eric - no idea why she chose the name, but always made me smile, it really suited him, and no one else was ever calling the same name in the park
Eric lived to be nearly 21, and was healthy up until the last 2 months. Hope you have the same good fortune with your new puppy, whatever you decide to call him

The only one I know is called Bobby and it suits him so well....:)
I was going to suggest Butch! I think little dogs need BIG names to suit their personalities, my parents have two terriers who like to think they're the same size as Alsations!
I'd wait until you bring the pup home to name him, you'll probably get a better sense of his personality and find the new name will come easily.0 -
At one of the training classes I attended there was a standard black poodle named Darcy and the name really did match the dog0

My wee toy poodle (cream/apricot) is called Riley, mainly because I got him from relatives in Ireland and wanted an Irish sounding name. They are fabulous wee dogs, very intelligent and great fun. Enjoy your new addition to the family x0

Sometimes the name finds you. When we decided to get our second pup (a Boy) the only thing we had decided was that it would begin with M to match Molly, we had loads of suggestions and the two we liked the best were Milo and Mason. We had planned to talk about it the night before we were picking him up and had to go to pets @ home to get bits and bobs for him. When we got home i started to take the stickers off the ceramic bowls we bought and turned it over to see Mason Cash stamped at the bottom, that decided it for us, he was obviously supposed to be a Mason.0

My Lab's called Lou. Lied to the little one, and told her the dog made a yappy sound when we lifted her which sounded like that, so we named her Lou. Had to lie, as little one's suggestions were so terribly innocent- creamy mess was one (based on gold cream fur and the fact that she had no co-ordination whatsoever.) I'm not shouting that out in the park! Ended up with Lou as it was a dog's name in a film out at the time.
The Collie was easier- the breeder is a massive Beatles fan, and all dogs were named respectively. His name is Oakmoon Rocky Raccoon- the raccoon bit is probably closer. We call him Rocky, despite the fact that he isn't big, brave, strong, muscled or a fighter.
My OH always wanted to call a dog Cat.0 -
