Help! Struggling to name our puppy!

Options
Need some suggestions on names please. We are collecting our new puppy next Friday. He is a little black toy poodle and between myself and my two boys we are struggling to find a name. One of my sons says Chip (which he decided after I rejected Pink!) and the other says Sam.

I'm not sure about either but to be honest can't think of any alternatives either.

Any suggestions gratefully considered.

Thanks

Combine the two names and call the puppy 'Chipsam' or 'Samchip'! or get the boys to write a few names on slips of paper and arrange the slips in a circle - put a doggy treat on each one and let the puppy choose! thats how my spaniel Megan got her name! as the three kids argued for days over what to call her.

We used to have a Topsy, because she turned our life upside down. I'd just pick a name in the days after you get the pup as they have a tendency to name themselves...

Liquorice? Tyson? Rambo? anything you like really!

My cats all have designer names (named by DD) and are collectively called "The handbag gang!"
  • Wait until the pup is home - you have a whole lifetime together, and anything that sounds good now might not suit pup after about a week.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Yup you are officially Rock n Roll :D
  • I've always had a list of names before I get a new pet & they usually end up being called something totally different after they've been home for a few days!

I know someone who has "Beattle" and "Bug" (brothers) which sound horrible but they suit them perfectly! We've had a "Bean" and I really like "Nelson" at the minute!

Wishing you all the best and I'm sure the whole family can't wait until Friday!

When we got our labrador pup last year, my other half wanted to call him Forest................he was amused by the thought of standing by the beach shouting "Run Forest run............."

Whilst this was amusing in thought, I kind of figured the novelty would wear off...................!

We couldn't make our minds up either - for a long time. He suggested something - I hated it! I came up with a name - he hated it!! The breeder had christened him "Yank" but we finally agreed on Dexter (it was a character in a book my partner was reading at the time!) - it suits him too!!

Best of luck in deciding and enjoy your new pup!

What about Nero, onyx, ace or shadow, taken from the pup's colour.

On my short list was Elvis even though I am not a fan,it is a great name.
