My OH heard someone tell of a nightmare holiday yesterday and guess what it was at Pontins Brean Sands:eek: just where we have booked for.... anyone been there can slightly put my mind at rest? apparently the guy said the place was awful and the chalets in a dreadful state...

Absolutely- filthly & foul, stained, mouldy, filthy. Would not recommend the 'classic' version for a dog, let alone a human child. Chalets look horrible, but inside ours was absolutely revolting. Filthy. Carpet hideous (we have a crawling baby) stained and dirty. Curtains, mouldy, sink mouldy, walls and windows filthy. Place in general, not my cup of tea-but kids would've loved it had the accomodation been bearable. Complaint at reception resulted in offered upgrade to club, but by this time I was afraid baby had botchulism. Full refund and escaped with our lives-phew. Another pregnant lady with little ones was escaping with full refund too. Lots of people were complaining. Just awful, sorry.

We've been to Brean Sands, I am not a holiday snob as we go camping and self-catering every year. When booking basic accomodation you expect just that. However, Brean Sands was shocking, even the curtains were hanging off obviously trying to get out. Would not let my kids step inside. Mouldy, smelly, stained carpets and even a sanitary towel on the bedroom floor. Bathroom made me urge ! When you stood outside the chalets and watched others arriving the majority looked horrified. Would not go back even if they offered to pay me !
Too many children, too little time!!!
    :p

Electric is £1 for a card if you need it depends on what accomodation you choose, if you do need to buy check the meter first there could be already alot of credit on it so you might not need to buy any, if you have any left you can cash them in at the end of the holiday so ony put one in at a time :)

    Club
Located in the very pleasant surroundings of each centre’s landscaped areas, our Club apartments will make you feel that extra bit special. Enjoy a priority check-in from 2pm, free bed linen and towels, a colour TV with digital channels. Electricity is included in the price, as is a complimentary bathroom pack of goodies.

    Classic
Located just a short walk from the main entertainment venues and children’s activities, your kids will love the convenience of our Classic apartments. Each one is equipped with a colour TV and bed linen comes for free. Check in 4pm.

    Budget
Offering fantastic value for money, our Budget apartments come with a fully fitted kitchen, colour TV and a lounge area with double bed settee. The perfect low cost family getaway. Check in 4pm

Personally, I think that for the little extra you pay for Club above Classic, it's worth it. By the time you factor in electricity, there isn't much difference. I suppose its slightly different depending on the Pontin's venue.

At first I think that Pontins is a bit run down from the outside. You can't compare with hotels or even with B&Bs in terms of quality of service. However, the rooms are at best, okay.

As the accommodation has no air-conditioning, I would probably not go Pontin's in hotter weather.

The thing I like best about Pontins is their cooked meals. Whilst everything is done on a budget level, their included breakfasts and evening meals are well cooked and you can eat as much as you like! ;)
