Why because i can only take so much crap from people who know absolutely nothing having a pop at me and my family. I am looking at peoples suggestions and i am extremely greatful for those suggestions.
Fred I think if you read my posts you will find that I have not had a pop at you.. quite the opposite in fact.... Please take the time to read them, start on page 11...

You are by far one of the nastiest people (and I use that word very loosely) that i have ever come across. You are making comments about me and my family that you have no right to.
I made no comments about your family - I simply pointed out it's pointless 100 different people suggesting you cancel sky, try blue cross/pdsa etc because you've repeatedly said unacceptable to you. You've made your priorities and essential spending definitions clear and yes I feel very sorry for you and your family but I don't see how people repeatedly suggesting the same things and getting frustrated helps you. You've set your limits they aren't moving people trying to move them and banging away trying to shift them doesn't help. You asked people to comment on your situation I was simply pointing out that you've already made it clear most aren't applicable to you.

Personally I thought the comment about putting the dog down was nastier. I just suggested doggy NHS - PDSA/Blue Cross

As a pet owner myself I felt compelled to put something here. Maybe there are things that some don't agree with about what Fred is prepared to give up and what he's not but it's not about approval. He's obviously making some headway and taking some of the advice on board a bit at a time.

The comments about vets bills coming way down below other expenses is absurd...and I believe it's actually against the law now to withhold veterinary treatment from an animal that needs it. Even when I've been budgeting to the penny and been in real trouble I've continued paying my pet insurance (at £11.57 per month for 2 cats) because I knew I couldn't afford any hefty bills if they came in.

As regards the callous comment about putting the dog to sleep...perhaps a more helpful suggestion would have been to contact the RSPCA with maybe a view to giving the dog up to them if the costs became too much. We had the occasion years ago to contact the PDSA who were completely useless and refused to treat our cat who was in distress after being hit by a car because my Mom didn't fit the exact minute criteria for them to help. A friend helped in the end.

Anyone who has a pet knows how wonderful they are to have around when you're upset or in a state and the fact that Weymuffred is looking after his dog should be commended. There are people in the world who would've washed their hands of it.

It's been almost 2 months since the original post so perhaps now would be a good time to have an update. How are things looking overall now Fred? What's next on the agenda to sort out?

Have you talked to HSBC about your loan repayment amount? I found that when I stopped burying my head in the sand and actually approached creditors with my difficulties they were (in most instances) fairly helpful. In the end they just want their money back so smaller payment amounts are better than them not getting anything at all. I contacted everyone I owed money to or had services from (utilities etc) to talk about reduced payment plans and got a positive response.

you have made comments about me/my family. I am asking you nicely to keep your nose out, as the remarks you have put are all untrue and upsetting.
The only 2 things that you are correct on are sky and the comment about putting the dog down.

Hi there Fred, if you are having problems with a particular member, click on their name and then click on view public profile and then click on ignore (member's name). Problem solved hun, you won't see anything they post then. :D

I have three cats and wouldn't dream of getting rid just because they have caused a sudden or ongoing expense. They are part of my family and as such are taken care of accordingly, it's not their fault if that causes financial hardship to me it is just another bill. TBH the thought wouldn't even enter my head, but there you go that's the way I feel about them.

Now then how about that updated SOA? It sounds as if you are making inroads and it's commendable that you have cut back your houshold expenses by £220 pm. List your income in one lump sum if you want to and then give us a breakdown of the rest and maybe some fresh eyes can pick up on some pointers for you or remember some ideas that were lost on the last thread.

Errr where have I said anything condemning or untrue?

I honestly believe a room full of monkeys will yield Shakespeare before you'd
contemplate giving up SKY, so what's the point in loads of people repeatedly suggesting it. I made and make no comment or judgement about the fact you'd rather spend £70 a month on telly than pay to visit your dying father, it's your perogative and I guess families are all different.

However you did come here and ASK for opinions on how to make income greater than outgoings.

I think people have treated you and your situation with the utmost sensitivity with kid gloves, have a look at how most SoAs get ripped apart.

    hiya fred
again to my previous post no advice no comments JUST

*****BIG HUGS TO YOU AND YOUR***********

just found out that my nana has relapsed and its not good news
(she has been in remission for nearly 10 years

so ignore the ones you feel is nasty and dont take it to heart like you said they dont know you and give your family a great big bearhug from me

you have got something to look forward in your life your family
and if you got them (i havent) everthing else pales into insignificance
yes you got money troiubles who hasnt but your family is your life and one day you wont have the troubles re debt

so if your feeling low look at you wife and kids and smile you got them and they got you and THAT is more important than getting sky package down etc
be grateful and thankful in that

sorry about the ramble am feeling really low re nan as she is the only family that have anything to do with me others lost interest re my exOH him now kicked into touch but they wont forgive but thats another story

    hugs and kisses
If we can put a man on the moon...how come we cant put them all there?

  • i think, perhaps, if fred is able, it would be good if he could post an updated SOA. i know he was initially hoping to switch utilities but as his current providers state he owes a large amount he hasnt been able to proceed. now, can anyone pls give advice on this situation. if you owe your current suppliers a large amount, can you switch to cheaper suppliers, but also work out a repayment plan with existing suppliers?

Fred - I strongly suggest you click on ignore to those who are upsetting you. things are tough enough and i know when you're on the edge the slightest thing can send you over, esp comments on websites.

regarding the reduction in household spending - well done that's a really good start. if you dont mind me asking, what are the changes you've made that have made such a difference - perhaps we can give you suggestions on how to reduce this even further?

keep posting and keep going. i guess you're feeling overwhelmed right now but you will get through this and come out the other end.
